In 1887, the Frisbies bought a revolver from Wm Hoggarty & Bros., which they used to shoot rabbits on their farm. They also acquired a rifle in 1889. In 1903, the Frisbies moved to Beatrice and began selling firearms there. From 1904 until 1916, they operated the Beatrice Rifle Shop out of their house. In 1916, they closed the shop due to economic problems; however, they continued to sell guns until their death in 1978.
Beatrice is a small town in Nebraska, located about thirty miles east of Omaha. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Omaha-Council Bluffs, NE Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Beatrice was James Fenton, who arrived in 1855. He named his land "Fenton's Prairie." By 1860, there were twenty five families living in Beatrice. In 1865, two men by the name of Whetstone and Moffatt founded a gristmill on the Missouri River near present day Beatrice. They named their mill "Moffatt's Mill." The mill continued to be operated until it burned down in 1907. In 1872, John Hanks established an sawmill on the confluence of the Little Sioux and Missouri Rivers which he called "Hanks' Sawmill." From this mill many more buildings were constructed including a schoolhouse and blacksmith shop which remain standing today as part of Tower Elementary School District No. 161 (Beatrice). In 1870s many settlers started moving into Nebraska from Iowa Territory because of new irrigation ditches being built along the Des Moines River. These people called themselves the "Iowamen." This movement started out with only 7 families but soon grew to over 2,000 people by 1875 when railroads became available for transportation to these new settlements across country. The first post office for Beatrice was established on December 25th, 1870 by George Schieffer with Prentiss as his clerk/factor/agent (the first such post office west of Dodge City). On May 6th 1895 Rev Wm Ransom erected a tabernacle and altar at Mount Carmel Methodist Episcopal Church which served as both church and village hall until 1945 when it burned down and no replacement was ever erected! It wasn't until after World War II that a Presbyterian church was built on Main Street adjacent to Tower High School (now known as Pilgrim Hall) where services are still held today every Sunday morning beginning at 9:00am!

Beatrice was founded in 1862 by Captain John A. Beatty, who named it for his wife, Beatrice. It became a town in 1868 and a city in 1907. The population of the city peaked at 27,000 in 1920 and has since decreased to 10,000.
