Missoula, Montana is home to the oldest gun mag in the Western United States. The first magazine in Missoula was the Bobcat Rifle and Pistol Club’s (BRC) first issue of October 1912. Firearms safety was an important concern at the time, so all issues of BRC were published with a red band around the cover for emphasis. The Magazine Reviewers Association (MRA), which later became the NRA, was formed in 1932 in Missoula as a response to increasing Magpie-style shootings across America. In 1934, BRC merged with MRA to form the Missoulian Rifle and Pistol Club. The new club continued publication of its own magazine until it folded in 1955 due to lack of membership. However, history does not end there! In 1969, another Gun Mag publisher moved into town – Guns ‘N’ Ammo! This store would continue publishing magazines until it closed down in 1984. Because Guns ‘N’ Ammo had such an influential presence within Missoula’s community, their stories are worthy of preservation too!

World War II brought increased production due to war effort but also came hardship like food shortages that lead to many people leaving missoula during tough times A post office opened here in 1945 named after then assistant Postmaster General J. Missoula, Montana is a city in the U.S. state of Montana and the county seat of Missoula County. The population was 149,643 at the 2010 census, making it the third-largest city in Montana behind Havre and Bozeman. Situated on the Missoula River near its confluence with the Flathead River, Missoula became an important commercial center during the late 19th century as a result of its location along wagon routes connecting Great America with California and Oregon. The city also developed as an agricultural center with extensive production of hay and other feed crops. The first Europeans to visit what is now Missoula were fur traders from Siberia in 1809–10 who named their destination "Mishkoron". In 1812, gold was discovered at Three Forks Creek by James Halliday while exploring for American Indians led by Chief Josephine's husband David Thompson. However, no one realized until 1847 when prospectors discovered a vein of gold at present-day Butte before traveling downriver to explore it further. In 1850, mining began on nearby hills that would eventually become downtown Missoula; early explorers named these hills "Hillsboro" because they saw many horses being driven away from the mines there by local farmers to pasture their animals. In 1860, Rear Admiral John Cushing sea sailing intonavigation chartered USS Raccoon (1861) from New York City to explore silver deposits off central Alaska; however he returned without finding any significant amounts of silver but did note large quantities of copper and lead ore near present-day Missoula. On November 9, 1861 US Commodore George Dewey sailed his battleship USS Monitor (1862) through channels between Siberia and Alaska into what is now Russian waters after discovering vast reserves of copper ore just east of Point Roberts Lightship which had been sighted earlier by Captain Charles Wilkes aboard HMS Erebus (1798). On December 11 US Naval Brigantine USS Constitution (1863) arrived at anchor in ice pack off shoretown Fort Victoria after steaming upriver for days over difficult weather conditions; this was largely due to damage done byandals two weeks earlier when they destroyed part of Washington Street Bridge across Flathead River while stealing goods belonging to A&P store owner J B Beattie nearpresent-day MISSOULA. At this time most Americans believed that Russia had acquired Alaska through purchasing American land grants rather than through military conquest or treaty negotiations like those which had occurred in Central Asia previous year where Russia had successfully seized control over vast areas including parts of Mongolia and Kazakhstan among others regions including Winterburn Heights outside Spokane Co., Washington Territory on May 5th 1864 pursuant to Treaty Of Moscow #1 following Russo-American War #4 fought June 14th – July 2nd 1864 between United States & Russia resulted in more than $25 million worth total property losses for United States government & private individuals
