The Kalispell Rifle Club was founded in 1875. The club moved to its current location in 1903. The club has a collection of over 150 firearms, which includes rifles, shotguns and handguns.
Kalispell is a town in central Montana, United States. The population was 1,812 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butte County. The first post office in Kalispell was established on July 15, 1875, and was called "Prairie City". The name was changed to "Kalispell" on October 9, 1901. The present spelling of the town's name comes from a local legend which holds that General George Custer and his cavalry were arrested while traveling through nearby Glacier National Park and spent the night at what is now known as the "Honeymoon Ranch", near today's downtown Kalispell. This account led to the phrase "Where Custer rode, there are still people living." The townsite at what is now downtown Kalispell was platted in 1907 by W.H. Fenton and H.L.. Jantz bought the land from Fenton for $10 per acre ($2 million at current prices). The townsite had been populated by Lakota Sioux since before European settlement began in this area. In 1911, construction began on what became known as Big Mountain Dam (later renamed Bonneville Power Administration dam). At that time it was one of only two hydroelectric power plants authorized by Congress under President William Howard Taft's Great Depression-era New Deal program. The other plant was built farther north in Idaho Falls by Southern Pacific Railway Company president Dictator Elmer Gantry just prior to Taft's inauguration on January 20th of that year – making Kalispel one of few U.S., rural communities directly linked to major urban areas during that era; big cities such as New York City were generally served by secondary systems such as streetcar lines or bus lines providing access only through outlying suburbs or rural areas with no municipal services available outside those areas themselves. This community also benefited from its location within easy driving distance of both Montanan Interstate Highway 25 (Interstate 35) south to Whitefish and an adjacent highway system including Yellowstone National Park to the east and Bannockburn Reservoir north to Butte County proper; these highways facilitated cross-country travel between easternMontana villages such as Billingshurst and Missoula while also serving as access routes into Rocky Mountains national parks located primarily east of Interstate 80 near Aspen/Aurora CO . These national park entrances served not only recreational hunters and hikers but more importantly scientific researchers conducting research projects studying mountainseddy ecosystems during those times when outdoor recreation opportunities were limited or nonexistent outside some very popular ski resorts like Aspen/Aurora CO . Today much less infrastructure exists along I-25 so Amtrak trains cannot reach either Whitefish or Aspen/Aurora CO without departing from Bozeman MT also hosting many smaller airports serviced by charter airlines like SkyWest Airlines Flying Tiger Airways etc... So much has changed in over 120 years!
