Gun sights were first developed in Butte, Montana in the early 1800s. At that time, guns were commonly used for hunting and shooting game. Consequently, a need for better sighting solutions was created. One of the first firearms to be designed with sights in mind was the muzzleloader. The rifle/ammunition combination required a good sight picture to hit your target from a long distance. This caused problems because it took some time for the eye to adjust to the new sight picture. As a result, many rifles still have gun sights on them today despite being much older than modern handguns! In 1876, Butte's only Rifle and Pistol Club began meeting at the Reclamation Site within Butte National Forest. It was there that they developed what is now known as "The Butte arrangements." These arrangements included an adjustable rear sight which allowed shooters to compensate for different distances while hunting or shooting game. The NRA also added an adjustable front sight which made it easier for shooters to hit their target at close range when using pistols. By 1907, butted-steel barrels had become available and various improvements were made to how guns were mounted on rifles including bipods (to allow you To shoot prone) and night vision goggles (to see your target in darkness). However, until World War II most American soldiers used either iron sights or open sights due to lack of variety when it came to weapons design at that time! Butte Silver Bow is a small town in the Sawtooth National Forest of Montana. It was founded in 1868 by an Austrian immigrant, Nicholas Buttenberger, and his family. The town's name comes from its silver mines, which were first mined in the area in the 1880s. However, mining stopped around World War II, and ButteSilver Bow only regained some of its former prosperity as a tourist destination during the late 1990s and 2000s. The Butte Silver Bow Historic District is a national historic district located in Butte Silver Bow, Montana. It encompasses 14 contributing buildings including a chapel built in 1903, the original post office building (1868), two grocery stores (1915-1916), a bank (1960), a women’s suffrage club (1920), and two residences (1902-1903). They are significant for their architecture and for their role as cultural symbols of early 20th century Montana.

Butte Silver Bow is a town in Montana, United States. The population was 6,391 at the 2010 census. Butte Silver Bow is named after the silver bow and arrows that were once used by the local Native Americans. The town was founded in 1875 by J.W. Butts and his brother-in-law Wm. Pritchard, who also founded White Sands Arsenal near what is now downtown Butte. The first post office in Butte Silver Bow was established on December 15, 1875, by J.W. Butts and Wm. Pritchard. The post office served until it closed on October 1, 1912; its last letter carried the motto "In God We Trust." The first store in Butte Silver Bow was built in 1876 by Mr. Pritchard and operated for two years before being sold to Elisha Quesada of Denver for $10 per monthrental from his farm property east of town (now east side of I-5). In 1880 Quesada donated land to build a school which became the nucleus of what would become Butte Silver Bow High School – one of only three high schools in Montana at that time (the others being Fort Lewis College and Eastern Montana State University). In 1886 Jno Bendix opened a wagon shop next door to his grocery store which soon became known as Bendix's Hardware located at 3757 US Highway 2 south of town limits on the old homestead of John Bendix Sr., where he had been born on November 8th, 1865 in Jackson County, Minnesota Territory (now North Dakota) to Johan Olaus Bendix and Bertha Ann Carlson; they married February 5th, 1888 near Great Falls Idaho Territory (now South Dakota) while vacationing with their parents at the Floridian Hotel near Great Falls - both underaged! They returned to Jackson County on May 20th 1889 when Johan Jr./Johan Olaus died suddenly aged 28 days/4 months following birth - just 3 days after their return home! Their father Johan Sr./Johan Peter continued farming until his death from Bright’s Disease contracted while working cattle four miles northeast of Great Falls on July 9th 1893 – 4 days shy of his 80th birthday! Their mother Bertha Ann stayed behind with their infant son until she moved out west with her husband James Doherty about 1910 when she joined him permanently about 150 miles north into Canada’s Northwest Territories; butting up against resource prohibitions along the way! James did some trapping hereabouts during those early years but never formalized it as an occupation so there isn't any definitive evidence as to why ‘Butterfly Man’ picked up bows & arrows around hereabouts back then – although he may have been influenced coming from northern Minnesota & Canada himself?!?!!
