Butte Silver Bow is a small town in Butte County, Montana, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butte County. The town was named for silver mines in nearby Park City. The first post office opened in 1867 and continued operating until it closed in 1909. The first ammunition company to be organized in Butte County was the Western Armory Company, founded by local ranchers George Waddell and John Hagenbeck on November 10, 1868. The company produced rimfire arms and ammunition fromBeginning with a single revolver and six rounds of .45-caliber Winchester Ammunition, Waddell's armory became an important center for rifle and shotgun production throughout the Territory of Montana. Butte Silver Bow is a small town in the U.S. state of Montana. It is located on the Butte Plateau, east of Great Falls and south of Helena. The population was 1,838 at the 2000 census. The community was founded by white settlers in 1875, after they discovered silver in Butte County. It became a post office in 1886, and an agricultural center during the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1924, it merged with nearby Blackfoot to form Butte-Blackfoot-Butte City. The city was renamed Butte Silver Bow in 2001 after its local government changed its name to that.[2] Butte Silver Bow is home to two churches: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and First Baptist Church. There are also several stores, restaurants, and businesses near but not owned by the townspeople or within walking distance of it such as Denny's restaurant,[3] Holiday Inn Express[4], Reeves Hardware,[5] American Legion Post #1[6] and Stroud's Bar & Grill.[7][8] According to the 2010 census,[9] there were 1,838 people living in Butte Silver Bow; however this may be lower due to migration since 2000 as well as annexation into neighboring townships since then (the population count for 2006 was 1,951). However according to 2016 Census data from USGS aerial imagery Andes Peak High School still has over 1000 students enrolled!

Butte Silver Bow is a small town in the Gallatin Valley of Montana, located about 10 miles northeast of Helena. It was founded in 1865 by silver miners who had come to the area from Butte, California. The name "Butte" comes from a Apache Chief named Butchie who led an attack on a party of United States soldiers in 1864. The first post office was established at Butte in 1865. The town grew rapidly and by 1875 it had a population of over 1,000 people. By 1907 Butte had become part of the Great Western Railroad system and began to experience rapid growth due to its location and proximity to other mining areas. In 1912 the town became an incorporated village with a population of over 500 people. Butte Silver Bow experienced significant economic decline during the 1930s when production stopped and local residents were forced to move away for lack of jobs. However, by World War II it had recovered sufficiently and grew once again as a bedroom community for rural Montana locals. After the war, however, businesses closed down and many residents lost their jobs; consequently, development halted again until the late 1990s when new ownership began to bring renewed life to Butte Silver Bow through initiatives such as arts & culture programs, public education opportunities, and infrastructure projects like widening streets and improving access to amenities such as libraries and shopping malls. Butte Silver Bow became a stop on the C-I-O-A-N Railroad in 1882. The town was founded by buttes that were mined for silver. The mines closed in 1963, but some of the buildings still stand today.
