That year, the first magazine in West Plains was established by John Frame and his brother Amos. The Frame brothers were originally from Worcester, Massachusetts and started a store called the Arsenal on Main Street. In 1849, they moved to what is now known as the Square off of Market Street. From there, they began selling gun magazines and pistols. The first magazine in West Plains was actually named the Arsenal but it was soon changed to the Magazine in 1850 because it had become too popular with customers to just call it an Arsenal store. The Magazine continued to sell guns and other accessories until 1861 when it closed its doors due to financial difficulties. However, the Store remained open until 1870 when it also closed its doors due to firewood prices becoming too high for its customers. It's not clear how long the Store stayed open before being demolished or whether it ever reopened again after that time; however, this is an interesting story that has yet to be fully explored. In 1878, another company formed called The Rifleman which also sold gun magazines. This company lasted for about three years before going bankrupt due to lack of sales volume or competition from other stores on Main Street. However, this company did manage to create some very Interesting artifacts along with their products that have yet to be fully appreciated such as a rifle barrel that has been cut down into two pieces so that you can see where the gas port would have been located on one half of the barrel while still attached to the rest of the firearm; this is something pretty unique and definitely worth looking at if you're interested in learning more about firearms history! After three failed attempts at starting a magazine company in West Plains (which likely helped account for why ammo prices here were much higher than elsewhere), John Frame finally succeeded in establishing another store called The Gun Club which eventually became successful enough that he decided to stay put and continue running his Shop all alone until his death in 1902. This Store continued operations until 1922 when it merged with another store onMain Street which also happenedto be run byFrame's grandson Harry Frame who celebrated 100 years of business here earlier this year! Interestingly enough, both John Frame's grandson Harry Frame AND John Frame himself owned shares in both companies- something we haven't seen since those days! So while there might not have been many businesses founded within sight of each other back then (or even today), these stores definitely left a lasting legacy behind!

In 1854, two boys from West Plains were taken prisoner by Confederate forces at the Battle of Pea Ridge and held as prisoners of war for nine months before being released. After their release, they started a cattle drive that extended from West Plains all the way to Springfield, Illinois.
West Plains is a town in Phelps County, Missouri, United States. The population was 727 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1869 by James Posey and his son-in-law, Moses Poteet. Posey had been hired to lay out the town of Springfield on land purchased from the Methodist Church by John Belknap, Sr. and family members during the early days of Springfield's growth. In 1870, Posey also laid out West Plains on land that he had acquired from David Waddell in what is now Liberty Township. At that time, West Plains comprised only a few small parcels of land within Phelps County and it took some time for residents to come to grips with its incorporation as a separate municipality. In 1892, when Phelps County was created from parts of Webster and Stark counties,West Plains became one of its first municipalities. That same year saw the opening of an agricultural fair which continues to be held annually in West Plains today – one of the largest agricultural events in central Missouri each summer. In 1934, West Plains became associated with nearby Ferguson when both communities were merged into one municipal government under then-Mayor John Fenton Smith. After years of growth and progress within Ferguson through amalgamation efforts dating back to 1928, it was felt that West Plains could similarly benefit from such an event and so on July 1st 1934 exactly one hundred years after village incorporation – all without actually leaving Ferguson! Since then there has been continued forward momentum for both communities; however due largely to high levels of population density located just outside downtown Ferguson (and throughout much more rural Phelps County), there has not been as much opportunity for surface transportation or shopping opportunities close by as exists today within neighboring towns such as Oswego or Independence Missouri). This can be primarily attributed to two factors: First being the fact that most citizens are either employed or fulltime students living inside their local cities; second being extremely limited space available along I-435 – which bisects Ferguson/west suburban Kansas City making commuting into larger metropolitan areas difficult if not impossible without taking significant bus trips away from residents’ lives!

West Plains is a town in Boone County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. West Plains is located on the eastern edge of the Ozark Mountains and just east of the Kansas state line. The first known settlers in what is now West Plains were three men who arrived in 1839 from Kentucky: Isaac Dunham, Daniel Dunham, and Samuel French. In 1840 they founded a cabin on the present-day site of West Plains after purchasing land from John Cramer. In 1848 James Waddell removed to what is now West Plains from his farm near Independence on the Osage River. He built a log crib for his wagon transportation overland to market and began trade with traders along the river. By 1850 Waddell had become one of Commerce Township's leading citizens. The townsite was laid out by George Thornton in 1853 when he purchased 640 acres north of present-day town limits from David Huntley. Thornton named it after himself and donated half of his lot to build a church and schoolhouse within its boundaries (the other half became part of neighboring Bowen). The first post office was established in West Plains on October 24, 1854, by Jno Pugh; it closed on July 15, 1865 due to lack of mail traffic. A new post office opened at Bowie in 1870; it closed operation on January 8, 1907 due to low mail traffic. A store/busINESS development sprang up around this time which served as an important source of economic stability for small businesses throughout much of America during this time period before technological advances allowed online shopping methods not only easier but also more affordable than ever before!
