Wentzville is a small town in St. Joseph County, Missouri, United States. It is the seat of St. Joseph County and it lies on the banks of the James River. The population was 1,876 at the 2000 census. Wentzville was founded in 1827 by Daniel Boone as a farming community on land acquired from the Chouteau family. The first settler in Wentzville was John Gibson, who arrived in 1827 and built a cabin onutschka (a type of log cabin). In 1830, George Stephenson erected the first sawmill in Wentzville and became its owner and superintendent. In 1836, Abraham Lincoln visited Wentzville for part of his campaign trail and delivered an address to a meeting of farmers there; this event is also significant because it marked the beginning of political campaigning in St. Joseph County. In 1840, Samuel Morse established a post office here with mail service between Baltimore and Washington D.C.; however, due to rising postage rates associated with railroads then being constructed across America, Morse discontinued operations here in 1845 after just two years of operation. The first successful rifle match held in Missouri took place at Wentzville's Jackson Park on October 5-7th 1863 under direction of Captain Hurlbut (later General Nathan Bedford Forrest) during American Civil War testing purposes; this event helped solidify rifle use as an armament by both Confederate soldiers providing cover during engagements as well as battlefield casualties resulting from artillery barrages which targeted Union forces instead After several years of decline following World War I efforts to revive gun culture throughout America led to increased production during Prohibition Era; however manufacturing emphasis shifted towards military firearms due to increased demand for those items throughout various wars since that time Due to technological advances leading up into current day such as 3D printing technology; firearms manufacturers are now able to mass produce firearms more quickly than ever before making them easier for consumers to obtain though online retailers or directly from firearm manufacturers themselves

The Wentzville Gun Club was formed in 1892. The club built a gun range and began shooting. In 1912, the club became the Wentzville Rifle and Pistol Club. The club shot at an annual rifle match in Springfield, Missouri. The match was cancelled in 1914 due to World War I. In 1919, the Wentzville Rifle & Pistol Club became the Stonington Rifle & Pistol Club. The club shot matches at a local park until 1925 when they moved to Waterloo Park. From 1926-1929, they occurred at Kirtland Arsenal on the southeast corner of Lemay Street and North Main Street in Stonington. From 1929-1936, they occurred at Fort Smith Armory on Prentiss Avenue in Waterloo Park. In 1936, they disbanded because of World War II and did not meet again until 1945 when they reformed as the Wentzville GunClub again
