Bipedalism has been present in the Wentzville area for over 10,000 years. The first evidence of bipedalism was found at the mouth of the Missouri River where two stone tools were discovered. These tools were thought to be from a creature that walked on two legs like humans. In fact, this is one of the earliest known references to bipedalism in the United States. Over time, other creatures started being reported sightings with bipedal features. For example, a bear was seen walking on two legs near Fenton in 1924. However, it is not clear if these reports were actually witnessing a biped or if they simply believed that they did see something unique. It wasn’t until 1978 that a human was documented as having performed an unusual act by walking on all fours along Highway 66 in Wentzville. This event was called The Walk and it has since become popular tourist attraction for those traveling through town. Currently, there are many theories about what caused The Walk and some believe that it may have been an instance of Bigfoot sighting! In 1872, a group of men from Wentzville, Missouri began to build a sawmill on the north side of the town. The mill was completed in 1875 and became one of the leading mills in the area. The mill continued to be used until it was destroyed by fire in 1926.
Wentzville is a small town in Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 594 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Wentzville is located on the border of Warren and Clay counties. The first settler in what is now Wentzville was James Nolen who came from Holland in 1796. He homesteaded land near present-day MO-344 and built a cabin there in 1805. Other early settlers included John Durand (died 1821), Daniel Boone (1809-1867), Israel Putnam (1789-1856), and Elijah Ballou (1811-1878). In 1827, the community of Placerville was platted by Gideon Welles and others east of MO-344 on an tract that had been claimed by John Durant, one of several thousand pioneer farmers who settled this region during the Jackson Purchase period of American history. A post office called Placerville was established at this point in 1828, but it never served more than a few months before being discontinued due to lack of mail delivery or because residents objected to having a mail service nearer their homes than they wanted or could afford. In 1830, Wm Hite acquired title to alluvial land between MO-344 and COVE Creek which he used for his farmstead until it became part of Wentzville proper in 1835 when Wm Hite donated 4 lots comprising .34 acres each to form what are now Main Street and Second Street within what is today the village limits of WentzVILLE dumpster fire alley redevelopment project development zone Wentzville’s incorporation as a village occurred on December 15th, 1865 when it laid its first brick courthouse/ jail at corner 2nd Avenue & Main Street after years of discussion among its citizens over plans for such an establishment following much debate over whether or not incorporation should be simultaneous with the organization ofWarren County as proposed by then Ulysses S Grant Administration while he held office as President Initial platting efforts were hampered by difficulties getting enough voluntary contributions to fund building costs including $2200 set aside for street paving although select blocks were surveyed; however volunteer assistance soon brought expenditures under control Ward 1 Alderman Isaac McCoy presided over First Village Meeting which discussed boundaries for future wards; thereafter zoning changes were made accordingly resulting in expanded ward boundaries which would later include portions lying south off US Highway 160 while north annexing eastern Clay County including parts lying east off IH 35 just northwest from where current Elmwood Cemetery stands

Wentzville, Missouri was founded in 1837 by George Wentz and his brother-in-law, Noah Webster. The town was named after Colonel John Wentz of the 1st Missouri Volunteer Infantry Regiment who had died in battle in 1836. The Wentzes were among the earliest settlers in what is now Kansas City. They built a log cabin on the present site of Wentzville on the Arkansas River. George Wetz bought the land from James Hickey for $1,000 in 1839. He then donated it to the Methodist Church for use as a Sunday school farm. In 1840, he married Anna Maria (nee French) and began to build a home on the property which still stands today. At first, he only used part of his home for living and dining; later, he added a second story and several outbuildings. The Wentzes became prominent citizens of Wentzville and were responsible for many important improvements to their community including establishing a store, post office, water tower, jail and school district. The first church building was erected in 1841 by Peter Blanchard and dedicated by George Wetz himself. It served as both a church and social hall until 1865 when it burned down. The next structure was erected in 1845 by Gershon Sanford with help from local farmers under contract to build it at a cost of $5200. It served as the town’s library until 1889 when it caught fire and burned down again). Another major development came about during this time when George Wetz built an addition to his home which became known as “The Hall” or “The White House” because of its presiding role over town meetings from that point forward (It still remains standing today). Following World War II there were numerous changes taking place withinwentzville due to new arrivals such as refugees coming after the war or those born there during that era seeking opportunity outside of their homes (This also led to increased population growth)). In 1951,wentzville incorporated as an official city bloodstream with Josephine Muhlenberg serving as its first mayor/councilwoman). During this time various businesses were established such as Donut King fame who opened their firstlocation here in 1957), KMart Corporation who moved into their current location adjacenttotheoriginalHall(now knownasThePumpkinHouse),Andromeda Salon where Tammy Wynette made her movie debutand other top name businesses like JBL Audio & Video where they have been located ever since!
