The first Webster Groves, Missouri, weapon flashlight was designed by Harry L. Coulter in 1903. It was a small, portable flashlight that used a gas-operated light bulb and an acetylene cylinder to project an image of the object or person being photographed.
When Webster Groves was founded in 1839, it had a population of only seventy-five people. But over time, the community has grown rapidly, and by the early 21st century, Webster Groves had a population of over 4,000 people. The town is located in St. Louis County and is situated on the eastern edge of the city. It is bordered to the north by Park View Cemetery and to the east by Olivet Nazarene University. To its south are five small villages: Maplewood, Glendale Heights, East Elmhurst, Lawnside Village and Bellefontaine Village. Webster Groves was named for General John Webster who fought in both world wars. The first successful hunting expedition led by John Fenton in 1778 resulted in the founding of what is now Maplewood Township. In 1819, when General James Ketchum decided to sell his land near Jefferson Barracks to settlers, he recommended that they name their new township after General John Webster because he thought that it would be an attractive name for a community outside of downtown St. Louis City limits. The town was officially established on October 1, 1819 with just seventy-five residents living in tents or shacks along Ulysses S Grant Avenue at what is now Cass Ave., across from United States Bank (now part of Wells Fargo). One such early settler was Elias Howe who worked as a clerk at United States Bank before moving to Webster Groves in 1835 to start his own grocery store which became one of the most famous businesses in town. Other early pioneers include Daniel Freeman (the first postmaster), Asa Fuller (the first treasurer) and Robert Fulton (the first printer). The towns growth continued unabated during America's Civil War with no loss of life or property although many homes were burned down during fighting between Union troops and Confederate forces; this included much beloved Bellefontaine Village which lay within Confederate territory at that time During Reconstruction period following reconstruction efforts following American Civil War there were some major changes taking place within StL County including changes within rural areas into large cities while small towns like Webster Groves experienced shrinking populations due largely to lack of opportunity within larger metropolitan areas around them according to census data from 1870 thru 1910 (& incidentally these same Census Data show roughly quadrupling homicide rates & resulting decreases overall crime rates across entire STL County (-7% annually)). In 1912 there were 730 residents living inside city limits while outlying villages contained only 150 residents (~24% population size relative TO larger municipalities nearby!). By 1920 only 600 residents lived inside city limits while 600 residents lived outlying villages comprising only 36% population sizerelative TO larger municipalities nearby! This Growth/ shrinkage pattern continued until 1990 when all but 5 outlying villages disbanded leaving behind just 50+Residents residing inside citylimits!) English language proficiency levels across entire STL have gradually increased since 1990 however housing values have not followed suit as job opportunities have generally increased rather than decreasing etc.)

Webster Groves is a town in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1838 by John Webster and his brother Edward on the site of what is now known as downtown Webster Groves. The name "Webster" honor John's father and grandfather. The first post office in Webster Groves was established in 1837, and the first store opened in 1840. In 1852, the town became a county seat. In 1907, it lost its county seat status to Joplin after a referendum vote. Today, Webster Groves is a small community located east of Joplin on I-70 near Cape Girardeau. The town contains over 20 businesses which include several banks and two grocery stores along with three churches and one Masonic Lodge (the only one in the area). The town has experienced many changes during its history; some of these have included prohibition (1906), World War II (1939-1945), the Rapture (2004), and Hurricane Katrina (2005). Today, most of the original architecture still remains from when WebsterGroves was an agricultural village/township with multiple homes built around a common center square that served as an important market place for goods from all over rural Jackson County.
The Webster Groves neighborhood was established in 1892 by the merger of two small villages, Webster and Elk Grove. The growth of the city and its suburbs led to a need for more housing, so in 1927 the Chicago-based real estate company Ives, Strauss, & Company purchased the original village site from the previous owner. The new village became known as Webster Groves. In 1942, during World War II, an episode took place at nearby Fort Reidsfeld that left many residents displaced. In 1945-46, when Missouri was almost taken over by Japan during World War II, much of the population fled to Canada and other parts of North America because they were not welcome back in Missouri. A few years later another wave of refugees arrived after Stonewall Jackson's victory in the American Civil War. That year also saw the founding of what is now called Park Meadows Village on part of what had been Elmhurst Township. In 1955, Illinoisans John Fenton and Gerald Rios founded Fox TV Corporation with a $2 million investment. Fox soon became one of television's most powerful companies; it bought several stations including KMOX (now KMOV) in Kansas City and WTTW (now WGN) in Chicago before selling them all to Time Warner Bros., which merged with CBS Corp.) in 1998. In 2000-2001 Census data showed that there were 1 million people living within walking distance of downtown Springfield; however this figure grew to 2 million by 2006 due to suburban expansion into central Illinois caused by job growth at Daley Center McCormick Place office tower located there since 1988 adjacent to Ford Field/Springfield Municipal Airport). This increased demand for space led to development along Route 66 near Springfield's central business district – now known as East Side Springfield – beginning around 1990s with old factory buildings being converted into apartments and office complexes such as Gateway Plaza complex which houses Sears Roebuck’s headquarters until 2018; while Interstate 84 remains a main north–south arterial roadway through town connecting east side neighborhoods with downtown while also serving as a major bus route running between east side neighborhoods bordering downtown via West Side Road
