They named their farm "Lyon's Prairie" after themselves and their son Lyon Jr., who had preceded them on the farm. The site became known as Robertson Heights due to this purchase. In 1840, George Washington Dixon purchased one hundred acres (about ) east of town from Michael Robertson for $100 ($1/$ = $10) plus minerals that he had extracted near what is now called Dixon Springs Road. This area would eventually become the nucleus of what would become Webster Groves Township; it was here that Dixon erected his home and began to develop his holdings which included mills and a gristmill he built on the creek that flows through present-day town center. It was during this time frame that Webster Groves started to take form as an Irish Catholic community based on trading with surrounding farms along its current route of Elk Grove Road/Route 66 – one mile west of today’s downtown core – for goods grown on nearby farms such as potatoes, corn, apples and other produce necessary for local consumption only or used by farmers for export before becoming available locally again during Lent weekdays when prices resumed at locally raised levels again following major holidays like Christmas or New Year's Day while stocks continued to remain high until they gradually decreased over ensuing years leading into big discounts off regular store prices during busy periods like Valentine's Day weekend or Good Friday weekends etc.). This established market infrastructure allowed farmers to sell directly to consumers rather than middlemanagers who took advantage of traffic patterns linking destinations like KC & MO cities! Notable merchants include: Rinehart Bros Candies Factory @ 17th & Kelsey Dr.; Mrs Joseph Hogan’s Store @ 35th Street & Locust; Doyle’s Department Store @ 9th Street West; Kline Bros Shoes @ 15th Street East; Wernick’s Candy Store @ 10thStreet West Coventry Rd.; Pappas Brothers Brewing Co., Inc., soda fountain operated by Fenton Pappasno@ 3rd street corner just northwest across I-435 from original Main Post Office building.) In addition some families decided simply not to open businesses within their own backyard but instead went out into farming areas neighboring towns providing flour, eggs, milk (eventually cheese), butter etc.), fruits and vegetables furthering cross cultural exchanges between these various neighborhoods! One notable exception being McCarthy family who did open up a small hotel sortof halfway between Elmwood Ave./ Trenton St.–and Main Post Office–but closed it operations 5 years later due mostly to competition from fast food restaurants)! Some locals remember long linesups forming outside Hotel McFarlane starting 2 hours before opening time everyday...] . . . . For those reasons given above about how important trade relations were among pioneer households in developing this great community we can assume that quite literally thousands upon thousands………..of gallons (~ 6 barrels ~ 14 pounds) .....of pure raw milk poured daily into large caskets…went unproductivelymissing………..for lack of buyers!]

Webster Groves is a small town in the Ozarks of southern Missouri, United States. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Branson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Webster Groves were those who arrived from Maryland in 1820. They platted what is now Webster Groves on a piece of land that had been given to them by Judge John Brown. The community was named for John Webster, an influential lawyer from New England who died in 1825. The current building which stands on the corner of Scott and Main Streets was built in 1907 as one of the original stores in Webster Groves. A post office has been located here since 1837. In 1840, General Nathaniel Lyon's army passed through central Missouri on their way to attack Kentucky and meet with Major General Ulysses S. Grant at Vicksburg; they left behind many refugees including many farmers who moved to Webster Groves after the battle. At this time, WebsterGrove had a church and two schools which helped provide education for its residents during difficult times such as during the Civil War (1861-1865). In 1865, when Confederate forces attacked Fort Donelson near present-day Springfield, MO., most of the men billeted there abandoned their horses and fled into nearby woods where they were pursued by Union troops until they surrendered unconditionally on July 12th; all but one man being killed or captured before reaching safety in Independence Grove Cemetery just outside of town limits today! Many people who lived here also worked along Main Street which saw much business activity during early 1900s as it connected Hannibal Road with rural areas north and east of town via main streets like US Route 66 (now I-55) which ran through town then crossed over into Illinois side before coming back down to reach us again about 2 miles west (northwest corner). This main street corridor still sees some traffic today with businesses like Ace Hardware store fronting both streets even though it’s no longer within city boundaries! It wasn't until after World War II that most residents began moving away due to various economic reasons such as changes brought about by technology that impacted many industries including aircraft manufacturing southward into Arkansas while other parts of Missouri continued to boom thanks to new oil discoveries westward across state lines – resulting in more jobs available closer home for people seeking opportunities out instead of staying put – but enough residents remained throughout the 1950s & 1960s when Interstate Highway 40 was constructed cutting off much needed access to downtown St Louis so few businesses could survive without customers coming from elsewhere – although several large ones did open up along mainstreet once again like KFC!/Frito Lay/Hornby’s gas station etc.– turning what used once been an industrial area into a vibrant center point for families Raising children here rather than relying on others too far away! In recent years there have been plans submitted by local officials proposing development adjacent to Interstate 640 extending beyond what currently exists along Main Street towards Whatcom County line where additional retail space would be developed including apartments / condos / shops etc.; however it remains undecided if any action will ever be taken because private property owners are usually not keen on Developer encroachment onto their turf especially if it means less job opportunity or increased crime rates within their communities 😉
