Webster Groves is a small town in central Missouri, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Webster Groves was founded by Congregationalists in 1810 and named after James Webster, 1st Viscount Webster. It was originally a farming community with few buildings other than churches and schoolhouses. In the late 19th century, some farmers built large frame homes around what is now the downtown core of the town. By 1920, there were more than 100 businesses in Webster Groves. The post-World War II growth of factory jobs caused many businesses to close or move out of town as competition from neighboring cities increased pollution and traffic congestion on main streets in Webster Groves and elsewhere in central Missouri. However, several restaurants and nightlife spots remain today including The Depot Bar & Grill (which opened in 1990), The Peppermill (opened in 1922), Gilded Cage (opened in 2009), and KFC (elected into the National Register of Historic Places for its architecture).

Webster Groves is a small town in Greene County, Missouri, United States. The population was 915 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The Webster Groves post office was established in 1872, and discontinued operations in 1978. The community was named for General George Webster (1781-1863), an officer in the Union army during the Mexican–American War and a congressman from Illinois. In 1876, he donated land to create the town square on which the current Webster Groves courthouse now stands. The village of Webster Grove (renamed Groves after General Webster) sprang up around this square until it too ceased operation in 1978. Most of what is now Webster Grove was laid out as a rural village by early settlers who came from northeastern Illinois and eastern Kentucky because these were some of the most fertile areas in Greene County at that time. Most of what remains today are residential neighborhoods built between 1920 and 1940 on large tracts of former farmland given to farmers through government programs such as Rural Electrification Act (WEA). Groves has been home to many famous people over its history: musicians like Woody Guthrie, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Ray Charles and more; athletes including Dwight Gooden and Rick Majerus; businesspeople such as Cyrus Chestnutt and Milton Bradley; and artists like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Jay Z.
