When Webster City, Missouri was founded in 1853, it was the newest town in the region. The land that now makes up the city was donated by John D. Rockefeller, and construction began on what would become the first store building in Webb City. In 1857, a post office was established within the city limits, and by 1870, Webb City had a population of around 150 people. In 1865, gun cleaning kits were introduced to Webb City by J.W. A new railroad station was built on Main Street in 1908 which remains solvent today with its original two-story station building still standing from that time period In 1916 an act was passed authorizing Wichita's incorporation as a city; this action placed Webb City within Wichita proper along with neighboring Alba and Manassas Park Cities In 1922 an act was passed governing changes at Wichita's municipal boundaries reducing attendance at public meetings thenceforth occurring only during daylight hours through 2021; so too did this happen at Webb City'sgov't meeting held on October 15th 1922 after nightfall In 1924 an act providing for annexation of Topeka into Wichita saw no opposition but it did not take place due largely to lack of political will; instead Topeka proper annexed much smaller Hutchinson Village prior to their election that year In 1928 another act repealed all previous acts governing municipal boundaries annexing additional territory thus increasing population size from 1,611 residents per square mile (483/km²) when census results were tabulated to 2,354 residents per square mile (715/km²2) following approval from Ozark variance committee On January 8th 1930 expansion plans were filed for growth within then newly annexed Hutchinson Village amounting to 925 residences over an area including blocks bounded on three sides by Elmwood Avenue extending westward past Uptown Elementary School; however these requests were denied because there wasn't enough acreage available After passage of local legislation establishing charter schools in 1934 individual homes were acquired near North High School stretching out across 4 blocks bounded by Elmwood Avenue Wagon Wheel Drive & Carthage Road before becoming NUISDHSD propertylater omitted altogether From 1935 until 1942 when statehood arrived suddenly all government services such as fire prevention etc ceased operations due funding cuts later reinstated under new leadership during World War II When city limits increased again following statehood efforts authorizedExpansion Plans pending multiple times including 1962 reapproval resultingin final vote against those plans resultingin deed restriction disapproval On July 24th 1966 implementation finally beganof proposed zoning amendments affecting portions of East Side Blocks I-L representing approximately 227 dwellings thereby satisfying encroachment complaints made since early1966 As previously mentioned various expansions have been authorized but always rejected due primarily theretofore unresolved zoning concerns resulting currently in annexation requests being indefinitely deferred For more information or if you would like assistance please contact us
