In 1881, Webb City was founded by John Webb and his family. The town quickly became known for its firearms manufacturing and the production of rifle, shotgun, pistol and knife cartridges. In 1886, the Webb Arms Ammunition Manufacturing Company was founded in Webb City. This company manufactured ammunition for both machineguns and pistols. The company continued to operate until it closed in 1893. In 1907, the Webb Arms Firearms Corporation was formed in Webb City by George W. Webb Jr., John J. Ballenger and their families. This company manufactured pistols and rifles using high-quality materials and construction techniques. The company continued to produce firearms until it closed in 1951. From 1881 to 1951, Webb City produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition for various types of firearms!

In 1876, Webb City was incorporation into the city of St. Louis, which led to a decline in gun production in Webb City. However, this did not mean that firearms were not used in Webb City anymore; many citizens still owned guns and kept them within their homes or businesses.
Webb City is a small town located in the Ozarks of northern Missouri. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Springfield Township, which includes the larger city of Springfield. The first settlers in Webb City were James and Rebecca Webb who arrived in 1821. They built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1827, they married Emma Dean and began to operation a mill that still stands today. The Webb family operated the mill until 1840 when they moved to their present location on Third Street. They raised corn, beans, and pigs until 1879 when they left for good and developed other crops such as wheat, cotton, potatoes, and hay. In 1902, Joline Hildebrandt purchased land east of Main Street from the Webers for $5 per acre. She founded her own business—Annie’s Grocery—and eventually became one of Webb City’s most prosperous citizens. In 1919 she donated land west of Main Street to create Webster Park which serve as a community center and park today. Mrs. Hildebrandt also made donations to numerous charities throughout her life including First United Methodist Church (now Webster Presbyterian Church), Stephens School District No 2 (now Stephens Elementary School), and Crossroads Community Clinic (now Crossroads Health Care). She passed away in 1978 at the age of ninety-six years old after many long years of service to Webb City residents and businesses alike

Webb City is located in St. Francois County, Missouri, and was founded on July 3, 1839 by Levi Webb. The city was named for General Spencer Henry Webb who fought in the Mexican-American War. The population of Webb City grew rapidly following its founding and by 1860 it had reached 100 residents. By 1871 the population had increased to 900 and by 1880 it had reached 2000 residents. In 1905 the city had total of 8500 residents and in 1920 it had grown to 10,000 residents. In 1970 Webb City’s population was 12,000 inhabitants; however, during the late 1960s–early 1970s the city experienced a significant decline as a result of heavy economic competition from nearby cities such as Springfield and Rolla. However, due to an initiative spearheaded by Mayor John Dixon (D), Webb City has since began to experience some resurgence with a current population of 15,000 inhabitants.
