He also acquired two shotguns from Wilkinson which were later stored at his home until 1868 when they were moved into nearby Maple Hill Cemetery . After Joshua Harmon died unmarried in 1830 his widow married Isaac Bledsoe who lived on their farm until he died circa 1870; during this time period several members of her family joined her there including their youngest daughter Anna Mae Bledsoe who became Mrs. Samuel Jinks after her mother's death some years later In 1861 John Soret started farming south side Pulaski County road 2 miles westofpresent day Parkersburg South Side Railroad tracks just northof present day Greenville Rd going east past present day Limestone Rd renamed Soretstown following John Soret Sr.'s death Military service during Civil War

The first white settler in Washington was Isaac Searcy who arrived in 1836 and built a cabin near what is now Interstate 55 east of downtown Kansas City. He named his settlement for George Washington which had been returned to America after being taken by France during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763). This early version of Washington was destroyed by fire in 1840 but rebuilt including a large brick building known as "The White House" that served as an executive office for many years until it burned down in 1906. After this event most residents moved away to build larger homes outside of town or westward into Clay County until Territorial Road 7 arriving along I-55 truncated their expansion westward and they reverted back to their pre-road days as just another small community on the periphery of what would become KCMO soon after its completion in 1960s due largely to technological advances making postcard postage more affordable than sending goods by wagon train overland

It is part of the Springfield-Branson-Jefferson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first post office in Washington was established on December 10, 1836. The first store opened in 1840. By 1845 there were five stores and one harness shop operating in Washington. In 1870 there were thirteen businesses and two churches in Washington with a population of 1,500 people. A school was built on the current site of the Jefferson Elementary School in 1875 which served students from Washington until it closed in 1966 when all public schools within Springfield closed due to budget cuts caused by Congress under President Johnson's Great Society program). In 1886 a sawmill was built south of town and continued to be used until it closed around 1945 because of pollution problems created by heavy industry that had taken over nearby towns such as Quincy (now Quincy National Wildlife Refuge) during the early 20th century; most notably an open-air oil well located about two miles east of what is now downtown Washington. In 1928 Washingtons post office changed its name to Ankeny after a local merchant who had donated $1,000 towards its construction In 1951 Ankeny became defunct when Clay County merged into Warren County; however its name still remains as an option for use by new residents or visitors looking for an abbreviation for Ankeny knowing that no such designation exists today outside of memory only purposes).
