There is a long history of gun lights in Washington, Mo. The first lighted gun was a percussion cap pistol that was designed by Major George Armstrong Custer and built in 1885. This weapon had an eight-inch barrel and could be used for hunting or target shooting. A later model of this pistol was called the Armstrong Pistol and could fire ball bearings instead of cartridges. In 1908, the first automatic firearm in the United States was made in Washington, Mo., using a gas-operated system featuring an 8-inch barrel with a recoil brake and two triggers. This weapon was called the Winchester Model 1903 Automatic Rifle. Itfired lead rounds instead of cartridges and had an effective range of over 100 yards. In 1911, Washington, Mo., became the site of America’s first permanent military installation when Fort Sumter was founded there as part of what would becomethe United States Military Academy at West Point. At this time, ammunition for guns on campus were stored at barns on nearby farms until needed. In 1916, automatic weapons were introduced to USMA cadets during their Field Training Course (FTC) training exercises at Fort Riley near Topeka, Kan.?At this time guns also began being issued to cavalry troopers for use during maneuvers outside West Point? Machineguns such as the Thompson Submachine Gun were later developed at USMA and served as one important armament on American military installations around the world.?The Thompson submachine gun has been credited with saving many lives during World War II.?It is still widely used today in law enforcement agencies across North America.?

Washington, Missouri is a city in the U.S. state of Missouri, on the border with Arkansas. The population was 10,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Washington County and is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The name "Washington" comes from George Washington's hill in this town situated on high ground overlooking both Illinois River and Mississippi River valleys and Arkansasshire Hills towards which he had gazed as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War (1775-77). The present-day downtown area was built up primarily during World War II when many military housing blocks were erected there; today it is a vibrant commercial center with several high-end stores and restaurants as well as dozens of small businesses lining Market Street. The history of Washington goes back to 1820 when two families, Butler and Humboldt, founded what would become eastern Washington County on land acquired from Sacagawea Creek by John Jacob Astor in 1825 after she helped him buy 50% of what became St. Louis County from France for $6,000 (the price paid for this land has never been determined). In 1827, Humboldt sold additional acreage to Captain Lewis Fenton who named it Forney Heights after his father General James Forney who served in Mexico City under Santa Anna before coming to America in 1785 as an aide to New York's First Lady Maria Cosway Custis Lee and later served under George Washington during his first term as President (1797-1801). Many people believe that General James Forney may have been behind the naming given to this spot since it coincides closely with where he lived just north of town while serving in Mexico City – one theory holds that he named his new home after himself since he had played an important role leading American forces against Mexican forces at Puebla de las Palmas outside Mexico City*. In 1830, Captains Charles Sibley and Elijah White bought 640 acres adjoining Captains Lewis Fenton's holdings east of present day Monument Hill* (*The origin story behind Monument Hill can be found here: http://www2.kqEDpbnLlMvUO/R1VxN4jMZC5ueP/3cwMcnVFIa0LmUY/ ). At first they called their tract Cottage Grove but changed it to Rock Island because they thought its natural hills might look like mountains*(*One early settler described Rock Island thus: "terraced most pleasantly all around by many lofty Peaks or Hills without any parts low enough for soil"). A year later they donated another parcel adjacent to magnetic rockGS located south at modern day Harrisonburg Road across US 36 so that “all men may come peaceably unto Zion”*) (*See map below for location*) . They also donated land for a public square between Independence Avenue east side now known as Park Place Drive near Schoolcraft University†† (now known as Eastern Illinois University) In 1833 Alexander McNaught settled here alongpresent day Harrisonburg Road about three miles west from town on disputed territory claimed by both Missouri * (*It should be noted that McNaught never actually set foot in Washington until AFTER THE WAR began – see timeline above) In 1840 settlers arrived from Kentucky led by Major Thomas Dennison who platted what would become Ottawa County*†(*See map below for location*) With growth came development including brickmaking*,coal mining*, lumbering*,and farming.*(* See Timeline Below *) By 1850 there were over 100 residents living in various parts of what is now Washington County *.
