Warrensburg, Missouri is home to the oldest law enforcement agency in the state of Missouri. The Warrensburg Sheriff’s Office was established on December 12th, 1871. The first sheriff was John H. Warner and the current sheriff is P.K. Hamlin. In 1865, the United States Congress passed a bill that provided for a mission to be set up at Bellefontaine Battlefield in Warrensburg so military veterans could shoot targets for practice purposes. On May 3rd, 1866, J.C.Benson purchased land at Bellefontaine Battlefield and began construction of what would later become theSheriff’s Office Building on that property. The first building on this site was built with brick and limestone from Memphis, Tennessee and it served as office space until 1966 when it was replaced by the present building which was constructed in 1978 with funding from a $1 million grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Veterans Affairs program

It was founded in 1837 by Captain James Braidwood and his family as a stop on the Santa Fe Trail. The community grew rapidly during the late 19th century due to its strategic location along the river and its close proximity to Kansas City. In 1886, Warrensburg became a city and remained so until 1993 when it merged with nearby Overland Park.

Warrensburg is a town in Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,852 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The first settler in Warrensburg was Samuel French in 1819. A post office called Frenchville was established in 1821, and it continued to be used until1863. The town was named for General James K. Polk (1795-1865), who served as President of the United States in 1841 and 1840 and represented Ohio in the U.S. Senate from 1850 to 1857. In 1825, Major John Custer died during a military engagement near present-day Springfield, Missouri; his death claimed three hundred lives out of a total 1,500 battle fatalities reported during the American Civil War In 1830, Grigg Brothers erected a gristmill on current day US Highway 63 just east of town limits; this mill became known as Grigg's Mill because its founders were George Grigg (1793-1847) and Jesse Grigg (1800-1868). In 1834–35, David Campbell built a sawmill on what is now US Highway 62 between downtown Warrensburg and Fairview Cemetery; this mill became known as Campbell's Mill because its founder was David Campbell (1796-1864). In 1865–66, Wm Hogg erected an iron works on what is now Old National Road west of town Limits; this works became known as Hogg's Works because its founder was William Hogg (1814-1900). The first school district in Warrensburg Township was organized in 1870 when Central School District No. 1 merged with Warrensburg Township Schools District No. 2.; that district continued to exist until it merged into St Louis School District No. 6 in 1967 In 1895–96 two miles east of downtown along State Route 3B an oil well were drilled by J&P Well Service Company under contract to Gulf Oil Corporation - later renamed Gulf Refining Company - which developed the well into one of America’s largest open oil wells ; that company’s remains are still visible today at milepost 6½ on SH 63 northwest of downtown In 1907 local farmers began growing corn for export to markets around the world; early busloads of lorryloads arriving each day at Union Depot gave rise to the name “Corn Row” – later anglicized to “ Corn Belt” – for those crops In 1918 local businesses decided to move their operations from downtown into new buildings which they constructed behind First National Bank building east side Main Street; that bank continues operation today as First Federal Savings & Loan Association Warrensburg has been home to various businesses including car dealerships since after World War II when small gas stations opened up throughout central STL due NRA regulations forbidding any type or service other than gasoline sales within city limits . Cities like Kansas City had gone through such deregulation following WW2 but only Arlington Heights did so earlier with truck stops

Warrensburg, Missouri was settled in 1837 by the Jackson-Stromeyer family. The town grew rapidly from its initial population of only 10 people to over 100 in a few years. In 1858, the Warrensburg Post Office was established and quickly became one of the most important businesses in the community. By 1860, Warrensburg had become a thriving town with an estimated population of 350 people. In 1865, the Union army invaded Missouri during the American Civil War and Warrensburg was among the first towns to suffer from damage and destruction. The town's residents were quick to rebuild and continue their normal life despite heavy fighting around them. In 1880, Warrensburg was renamed "City of Industry" after companies began moving into the area for manufacturing purposes. industry continued to grow in Warrensburg until it reached its peak in 1939 when it employed over 2,000 people. However, as soon as World War II began, factory jobs stopped flowing into Illinois and Missouri due to wartime production quotas. As a result of this change in economic dynamics, City of Industry slowly declined throughout the 1940s and 50s before finally disappearing altogether in the early 1960s.
