The Mounted Rifle Club of Warrensburg placed a scope on the porch of the courthouse. In 1924, the rifle club built its own shooting range and put a scope up on it. In 1957, the Mounted Rifle Club moved to its current location and replaced their original Scopemount with an improved model that featured integral stabilization system. This mount stayed in use until 1989 when it was replaced by a new version that featured electronic rotation adjustment. Warrensburg, Missouri is an unincorporated community in Randolph County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first post office in Warrensburg was established on July 10, 1871. The present post office building was built in 1904. In 1924–1925 a bond issue to finance the construction of a new high school was successful and money was raised from local residents to build the facility. In 1929–1930 a concrete floor for the new high school replaced a sod floor that had rotted and been destroyed by rainstorms over the previous year. The old high school structure still stands as part of the larger Warrensburg Community Center complex which also includes an amphitheater and other cultural/educational facilities. In 1951–1952 local residents erected a monument to Robert Easley (1858-1950), one of their own leaders during World War II who served as an American Legion corporal with Company I., 9th Kansas Infantry Regiment stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas; he later became something of an unofficial hero hereabouts due to his selfless service while helping preserve Western civilization against communism during that conflict (see also "Robert Easley: A Pioneer in Warrensburg" by Don Litzer). On October 4th, 1954 two Boeing 707 jets were parked adjacent to each other on runways 12/24 at Lawrence Municipal Airport when they experienced engine failure just short of runway 25 after takeoff from Wichita Falls Air Show - only one jet made it back into serviceable condition; both planes sustained extensive damage but both eventually returned to serviceable condition after being repaired and refurbished respectively - this event remains celebrated annually as "Jet Mania" in nearby Wichita Falls! Warrensburg is a town in Jefferson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 6,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first settlers to Warrensburg were three men who arrived in 1825: James Hays, John A. Logan and Ebenezer McKnight. The town was platted in 1830 by Captain George Armstrong and his brother-in-law Nicholas Saunders. In 1836, the name was changed to Warrensburg after General Andrew Jackson's victory over Henry Clay in the Battle of Hittaho Creek. During the American Civil War, Warrensburg served as a Union military depot and supply center on the Western Front. On November 1, 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell ordered all Union troops within four miles (6 km) of Warrensburg to retreat or be destroyed by artillery fire from Fort Donelson; this order led to the Battle of Grantsburg that December 5th. After Grant's surrender at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865, most of Confederate forces withdrew into Missouri including Warrensburg's 1st Brigade under Colonel John Bostwick which continued to skirmish with Union forces until January 4th 1865 when it finally surrendered unconditionally at Blue Springs Arsenal near present day Springfield Township along with most other Confederate units not captured during battle such as skirmishers and artillery pieces still stationed there today
