Warrensburg, Missouri is a town in Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It lies along the Nazareth- Holmesburg Road and is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. A post office called Warrensburg was established in 1839, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. The town was named for John A. Warren, an attorney who represented Illinois in Congress from 1843 to 1845.

Grant, who served as an general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The town of Warrensburg was platted in 1836 by Andrew J. Yates and Samuel Dyer and named for General Ulysses S. Grant, who had been commander of the Union forces during the war. The first store in Warrensburg opened its doors on July 4, 1837. After the death of Mr. Yates in 1840, his widow continued to run the business until her death in 1865. In 1851, Squire Wigglesworth built a large cotton mill which became one of the most important businesses in town after it began producing cloth for local families and merchants. In 1870, members of Warrensburg's first Masonic Lodge met to plan their next step forward; they organized a new town government with a mayor and three councilmen In 1881-82 Reverend Fenton conducted a religious revival service at Mount Zion Methodist Church which soon led to increased attendance at services throughouttown due to his preaching style that appealed to many people from all walks of life; this event is considered to be one of the earliest religious revivals ever held outside church walls in America Wigglesworth & Co., cotton gin (1883), now part of Southwest Missouri State University Museum
