The university has campuses located in Ferguson, MO; Independence MO; Hazelwood MO; Ballwin MO; Overland Park KS; North Kansas City KS; Wichita KS (the largest school district outside Kansas) UCC began operations on October 16th 1837 when twenty students from Randolph Amherst College took classes at what is now called "Old Main" on State Street across from Union Depot on the edge of town square

University City, Missouri is a city in Randolph County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,914 at the 2010 census. It has been the county seat of Randolph County since 1871. The first permanent settler in University City was John Gillett who arrived on a wagon train from Quincy, Illinois on July 14, 1836. Gillett's wife and children died en route and he never reached the city. He did however establish a gristmill which he operated until 1840 when it burned down due to overuse by the townspeople. In 1841 J.D Haney became the first white male to purchase land in what would become University City and build a cabin that still stands today on east side of UCT Campus along Old Business Road (now called Main Street). This was also the first white settlement in what would become Randolph County. A post office was established at Haney's cabin in October of that year and remained in operation until May 9th, 1893 when it was discontinued because of lack of postal service within Randolph County. A saw mill opened at University City by David Stoddard on December 1st, 1846 which continued operating until April 6th1849 when it caught fire due to an overload caused by too much wood being processed at once for sale into lumber products; this mill remains one of only two remaining mills active in University City today and is currently being leased out for use as an event center with banquet halls attached inside and out door. In 1850 Wm White built his house just south of Haney's Cabin on West Main Street which served as court house until 1902 when it burned down due to fire set by vandals while under renovation within university city limits In 1851 Phebe Snook became one of the organizers/co-founders with other women such as Fannie Lee Dixon who were then working together to start a Female Seminary which would become Truman State Teachers College later known as Washburne State Teachers College Today’s Truman State University began its operations August 15th1853 with five students enrolled providing instruction in Elementary & Middle School subjects including music theory & composition; during this time Drsnook served as Principal 3 times(1855-60) . After years of hard work Meetwood Female Academy located near present day intersection of Maple Avenue & Independence Boulevard also started operations fall 1865 becoming oneida Female Institute before finally closing September 1923 following allegations made against founder Mrs Snook alleging sexual abuse
University City was founded in 1867 by a group of businessmen, farmers, and other pioneers. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Mississippi River and its access to education and transportation. By 1870, University City had over 1,000 residents. Growth slowed after the Panic of 1893, but resumed in the 1920s when World War II brought new businesses and jobs to the town. In 1969, University City became a city within the Missouri State Capital Area.
