Troy, Missouri is a small city in the Ozarks region of northwest Missouri. The population was 3,608 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The city was named after General John Custer, who fought in the American Civil War and died in 1876 near here. The first settler in Troy was Drury Wagon Wheel Benning in 1825. The first post office opened in 1827 and the town had a population of about thirty people by 1830. A canal was built through this town and it became a bustling commercial center with several stores and a hotel being built soon thereafter. In 1840, Mr. Fenton erected an academy on land donated by him east of what is now Troy Creek Road (now Old Hwy 51). This school operated until 1861 when it was replaced by one known as "Plymouth Academy" which functioned until 1865 when school funding cuts led to its closure by local officials. In 1881, two brothers - Edward Cushing and Cyrus Kapp - organized what would become the first blacksmith shop in Missouri to serve white residents since Reconstruction began three years earlier. The shop continued operation into the 1950s before closing due to declining demand for goods made from iron ore mined nearby at Minesville Mines; however, Richard Pryor filmed his pilot movie "A Streetcar Named Desire" here from 1975-1978 using facilities located adjacent to mines closed down during that time frame While various attempts have been made over time to revive downtown Troy as an important economic center for the surrounding community, no substantive progress has been made despite numerous requests from business owners and developers interested in reviving downtown areas throughout St Louis County Along with efforts being taken by township officials within their borders such as Springfield Township to revive those same neighborhoods within their limits redevelopment opportunities exist for businesses located within 2 miles of Interstate 64 or less while other potential locations also include sites along I-64 corridors but have not yet seen any real development interest or investment beyond preliminary planning stages

One major challenge faced with developing effective gunslayers was finding ways to keep them cool during firing while also preventing them from becoming damaged or ruined by moisture or air pockets during combustion processes inside cannons or rifles fired with these devices

Troy, Missouri is a small town in the state of Missouri. It was founded by German immigrants in 1837 and named for General William Tecumseh Sherman. The population was 3,574 at the 2010 census. Troy is located on the banks of the Ottawa River, about 20 miles west of Kansas City. The first settlers in Troy were farmers who came to the area from Germany in 1837. They built log cabins and started a trading post near what is now downtown Troy. The post served as a trade center for local farmers and traders. In 1840, they erected a sawmill on the riverbank which functioned until 1896 when it was destroyed by fire. In 1847, three brothers began farming around what is now northeast Troy. They named their farm tract Poston after General Lafayette Poston, an American hero who had fought in Mexico during the Mexican-American War and then returned to America to lead an army against Mexico at the Battle of Buena Vista Creek. The family operated their farm until 1916 when it passed away into private hands. In 1865, Union soldier Major General George Armstrong Custer arrived in central Missouri to fight against Confederate General John Sibley at Buena Vista Creek where he lost his life during battle with superior Confederate forces under Jumper's command In 1911, Stroudsburg businessman Arlen Swindle donated land next to his old shoe store on Broadway which became home to KFC McClure's restaurant until it closed its doors in 2006 due to financial difficulties In 1934, Samuel Mays opened up KFC McClure's restaurant across from Swindle's store as one of two restaurants that would serve simultaneous lunch rush hours throughout most of Missouri That same year, Quaker Oats opened its first store east of Interstate 270 nears Stroudsburg . After years of business growth for Quaker Oats., it decided not to open another location within central Mo., but rather expand out into other states such as Illinois In 1951, Frieda "Fannie" Blytheopened her own grocery store called First National Supermarket adjacent to KFC McClure's which continued serving combined lunch rush hours until 1976 when she sold her company and store back to Quaker Oats Incorporated
Troy was founded in 1838 by Nathaniel Troy and his wife Lavinia. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Missouri River, and in 1854 it became a city. In 1865, the United States acquired Missouri from Mexico, and Troy became part of the new state of Kansas. In 1907, Kansas passed a bill establishing a county in Troy that would be known as Township 22 North. The county was created primarily for political reasons – because the township had been located within the old Indian Territory south of the Arkansas River – and it never developed into anything more than an academic curiosity.
