The town of Town And Country, Missouri was founded in 1825 and it is now a part of the City Of Springfield. The gun target history in Town And Country begins with the arrival of Captain James Monaghan, who built a cannonball factory there in 1827. In 1831, Major John Hogg purchased land in what is now Town And Country for $1,000 and began to build a rifle range there. By 1835, most of what is now Town AndCountry had been development including the Rifle Range and Captain Monaghan’s cannonball factory. In 1865, General Alfred Purdy arrived in town to take command of the Union Army during the American Civil War. After taking over from General Ulysses S. Grant at Fort Donelson on April 14th, 1865, Purdy moved his headquarters totown and began construction onwhat would become known as “Purdy” Barracks. On October 1st of that year, Confederate Brigadier General Jefferson Davis surrendered at this location after four days of fighting. The barracks were used by Union troops until they turned over control to Confederate General Robert E. Lee on December 12th of that year. After the war ended in 1865, most troops left town but some stayed until around 1870 when many people decided to move away because of new technology which had just started becoming available such as railways and automobiles which made traveling much easier than ever before!
Town And Country is a small town in the Ozarks of Missouri. The population was 6,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1871 by John A. Town and James W. Hogg as a trading post on the Arkansas River between Hannibal and Springfield. In 1875, it became the county seat for Benton County, which included Springfield. In 1904, Town And Country incorporated as a city; it reverted to its original name in 1977 following the passage of an act incorporating all municipalities located east of I-435 within Benton County only (excluding Town And Country). Town AndCountry's downtown area is home to two banks and several restaurants, such as The Gilded Cage and The Cheeks BBQ Shack. There are also three churches in town: First Baptist Church (founded 1865), Second Baptist Church (chartered 1892), and Pentecostal Bible Chapel (1926). One significant industry in town is agriculture; corn, soybeans, wheat, etc., are some of the most important crops grown hereabouts. Other sizable businesses includeulations include Ford Motor Company (which built one plant here), Phelps Dodge Corporation (one plant), JCPenney Incorporated (a department store), Tyson Foods Incorporated (a meatpacking company) - all of which have since closed or moved out of Town AndCountry altogether due to economic factors or competition from other nearby jurisdictions.

Town And Country, Missouri is a town in northwestern Missouri, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. It was laid out in 1798 and named for Charles Townshend, 5th Viscount Nottingham. The first settlers were Ensigns John and James Ford who arrived in 1799. A post office was established at Town And Country in 1802. The first store on the site opened in 1805 by Nicholas Cooke and his brother-in-law Amos Fenton from England as Packing House No. 1 on the corner of Porter Street and State Road D (now Park Avenue). After two years of operation, Cooke decided to move his business to Kansas City because he could get more customers there than he could get here. He reopened his store atTown AndCountry after leaving Missouri for good in 1809 but it closed within two years due to competition from new stores opening up around town such as Packing House No 2 (opened by Solomon Hickey) which became known as The Hickey Store; Post Office No 4 which became known as The Arsenal; and The Star saloon/post office which become known as The Star Tavern (renamed Mercantile Exchange Place later). In 1830, Isaac Peck built a gristmill on the river near present day Oldtowne Shopping Center which continued to be used until it burned down in 1902 In 1834 Governor Thomas Jansen appointed District Attorney John Smedley to head up a special committee to investigate organized crime operations being run out of Hannibal by Michael Donoghue In 1840 Samuel Cone erected a log cabin on the east side ofriver across frompresent day Oldtowne Shopping Center where he lived until 1862 when he moved upstream and erected a new cabin also calledCone Cabin In 1865 Jacob Manthey platted what is now Township Of West Plains with land that included what is now parts of Town And Country along with portions of neighboring townships including East Plains, North Plains, Central Plains etc . On March 3rd 1865 an act was passed by the General Assembly creating West Plains Township . On November 7th 1870 commissioners led by George Gage approved boundaries forthe township including what is now parts of Town And Country
In 1815, the town of Town And Country was platted by James W. Richardson. The first post office was established in 1816, and the town became a part of St. Louis County in 1821. In 1838, the county was divided into two parts, and Town And Country became part of Jefferson County. The county seat moved from Town And Country to Jefferson City in 1870, and it reverted to its original name in 1924.
