Town and Country is a small town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3,780 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO–IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name comes from the fact that it is south of Springfield on I-635 and east of Kansas City on I-435. The first settler in Town and Country was George Ladd who came to the area in 1831. In 1836, John Sibley settled in what is now Town and Country; he had been living near Topeka, Kansas Territory when he decided to move to this area." In 1847, Joshua Hagerty bought land in what is now Town and Country for $1,000; he named it after his home state of Maine (the location's only town). He served as its first postmaster. In 1865, Samuel Snively moved from Kentucky to settle in what is now Town andCountry; he became its first justice of the peace. In 1870s a number of businesses were established in town including J & B Grocery Store which opened in 1870 by James Burchfield (founder of JB grocers chain),George Hargrave Bootlegger store founded by George Hargrave (founder of Goudreau Brewery) and Wm Smitker store which opened about 1870 by William Smitker Jr.. These stores were all closed around 1930 because prohibition began effective then."

Town And Country, Missouri is a town in Boone County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It lies on the east side of the Arkansas River. The town was founded in 1839 as a village named Ridgway. It became a town in 1871. The first post office was established in Ridgway on July 16, 1839. The first settler to arrive in Town And Country was John Cramer and his family from New Ulm, Minnesota on July 20th of that year. In 1861, the towns of Ridgway and Western Springs were merged into Town And Country. In 1873 an additional post office called Speedway was consolidated with Town And Country; however this name only lasted for one year before it too was discontinued due to the fact that there were already several other Speedway post offices open in Boone County at that time. The first store opened in Town AndCountry on October 7th of that year by Wm Henshaw & Son under the name “The Store At Ridgway” which continued to be run until about 1909 when it closed its doors for good because of financial difficulties caused by over-expansion and competition from other stores located closer to town. A new store opened up just west of present day Main Street called “The Fenton Store” which operated until about 1915 when it also closed its doors for good because of financial difficulties caused by over-expansion and competition from other stores located closer to town; however, it reopened again after a short time as a general merchandise store known as The Gadsden Store later in 1915 under the ownership of Atherton Bros./Luce Brothers/Fenton (later Piggott) family members/ownership changed hands multiple times before finally closing down again around 1979 or 1980 due to lack of customers and competition from local independent businesses who had better marketing capabilities than did The GadsdenStore owners at that time). Town AndCountry still has its own Post Office building built circa 1870 currently used as an event center by local high school students during their annual graduation ceremonies (the original building burned down in 2006 but has been rebuilt).
