The Town And Country Arms Company was founded in 1847 in town of Town And County, Missouri. The company manufactured firearms and pistols. The first guns were made of American walnut and ivory. In 1853 the company moved to a new facility in downtown Town And County. It produced rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers for sale to civilians and law enforcement officials. The company also produced ammunition. In 1876 the company merged with Arsenal Manufacturing Company to form the Arsenal-Town And Country Corporation. That corporation manufactured rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers for military use as well as ammunition.
Town And Country, Missouri is a small town in the Ozarks of central Missouri. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Jefferson County, MO, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Town And Country was John Sutherlin in 1827. He and his wife Sarah located a cabin on the now occupied site of town in 1829. The community was named for General James K. Polk who fought during the American Civil War and died at Appomattox Court House. In 1835, George Witherspoon built a log cabin near present day Highway 24 and North Route 362 which became known as Witherspoon's Cabin. In 1836, Nathaniel Smith established what would become Springdale around this same location. In 1839, Hiram Berry established Berry's Store next to Witherspoon's Cabin on current day Main Street between Elkader Road and Highway 24A (now Old US 6). In 1840, David Dixon founded Dixonville northeast of present day Town AndCountry along what are now State Route 508 (now US 6) andCounty Road G-1 (now State Route 443). This settlement would eventually be renamed Town And Country after David Dixon himself when he settled there in 1840 with his family. The first post office opened in 1830 with David Dixon as its first clerk; it closed two years later because of financial difficulties brought about by war expenses. The first store opened in 1831 with Solomon Dunham as its proprietor; it closed several times due to business failures before finally being reopened by Rufus King under licence from Congress on October 3rd 1861; it continued operation until May 10th 1865 due to riots that erupted over issues surrounding slavery within the newly formed United States following the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1860%. A new store building was erected on Main Street just east of present day Hwy 24A/Old US 6 north of where Dixonville stood between 1850 and 1860 while also serving as Post Office until May 10th 1865 when it burned down due to an indigo dye spillage incident that occurred during construction work on nearby former Confederate Camp Bowiewhich then became known as "Town & Country". Other early businesses included a blacksmith shop operated by Amos Sheppard from about 1830 until he moved away circa 1850; meat market run by Elijah Cook from about 1830 until1835; three stores operated by Wiley Bassett from about 1830 until his death circa 1840; one store operated jointly by Laban Browning and Asa Gray from about 1830 until their deaths circa 1840 (the other two stores were combined into one shortly afterwards); shoe store operated by John Fenton from about 1830 until his death circa 1840; general merchandise store operated by Isaac Bowen beginning November 30th 1850; millinery establishment started operations January 1st 1850 consisting primarily of women's clothing including hats and bonnets made especially for such activities but includes some men's clothing too including overalls etc.; drayage service began providing transportation for goods purchased out-of-state around this time

The town is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River, approximately 12 miles south of St. Louis. The community's ZIP code is 63101. Town And Country was originally part of a larger area that included present-day St. Peters, Kansas; Independence, Missouri; and Macon County, Illinois. In 1836, General Carlin donated land to the village for its founders to settle and develop. The first house in Town And Country was built in 1840 by Capt. Isaiah Dunham and Mrs. Sarah Dunham Fenton-Bemis (a sister of President James Ketchum). It is still standing today as a contributing property to the Village of Town And Country Museum complex which opened in 1984. In 1861, when Missouri became an Confederate state during the American Civil War, most residents chose not to secede and remained in Union territory including Town AndCountry until 1865 when all but two families abandoned their homes for fear they would be captured or killed if they returned to Missouri under Confederate rule. In 1870, after Lincoln won the Ulysses S Grant’s election as president with a landslide victory over Andrew Johnson – one year after he had been elected Vice President – most residents decided it was time for them to move out of Dodge City since there were no jobs available here outside of Agriculture or other low paying manufacturing occupations which didn't exist anymore due to technological advances such as railroads making production more efficient). However some people did stay on through Reconstruction years later when new local businesses started up thanks largely to federal subsidies given primarily through the National Recovery Administration (NRA). Nowadays much of what used once been called “town” has turned into apartment complexes or rural villages while much remaining rural farmland remains within reach only 10 minutes away by car from any major city center like St Louis or Kansas City etc., making it an ideal location for retirees who want easy access not onlyto shopping malls but also easy transportation links both inside and outside metropolitan areas
