The first gunsights were invented by Captain John Smeaton in 1892 and he named them the “Swinburne Gun Light.” These small, hand-held devices helped shooters aim their firearms at a target more accurately. The first purpose-built gun lights were developed by Colonel William Armstrong in 1922. These devices were designed to help officers use their weapons during search and rescue operations. They also allowed police officers to spot criminals before they could commit any offences. A number of companies produced gun lights over the years, but the most popular ones are those made by Swinburne and Armstrong. Today, there are many different types of gun lights available, which makes it difficult to choose the perfect one for your needs.

The parish of St. Peters was founded in 1837 by Father James W. Worth and Brother Michael J. O’Brien, both of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The first church was built on the present site of the current one, which had been donated by John Cavanaugh. The population of the parish grew rapidly due to religious immigration from Ireland, Germany, and other European countries during the late nineteenth century; as a result, a new church was built on State Street in 1881. In 1911,Father Louis Pfleger established a school on West Florissant Avenue in honor of his predecessor, Father Patrick McNulty (1857-1911). A new church and rectory were completed in 1923 and 1925 respectively;St. Peters is now an independent parish with its own finances and pastoral staffs. In 1954, Frater Jerome Fenton became pastor after being appointed by Archbishop Charles Hickey as part of a apostolic visitation that included Missouri Impresario Fraternity president Cardinal Newman’s visit to America that year. During his tenure as pastor, Frater Jerome erected several churches and renovated many others throughout Missouri; he also produced numerous renovations or additions to Saint Peters Parish Schoolhouse which still stands today (renovated 1978). For many years until his death in 2006, Frater Jerome was also involved with various charitable works within the parish including serving meals to inmates at Shockoe Correctional Facility in Staunton County while incarcerated there for drug possession offenses; providing financial assistance to local families impacted by disasters such as Hurricane Katrina; hosting Luncheonettes for local primary schools every Saturday morning since 1984;and countless other similar initiatives within our community outreach ministry called “Prayer Warriors” which reaches out not only to those living within our Parish boundaries but also beyond them through support groups such as Hope Corps., Life Line Assistance., cancer research clinic., Easter egg hunts., Christmas markets.. Although he could no longer fulfill all these responsibilities himself due to health issues advanced from age 78 until his death last week at 102 years old attended services daily at Our Lady Of Good Shepherd Church where he spent most Sundays leading prayer vigils for many decades prior before then…. It will be difficult enough knowing him gone but leaving behind an entire generation filled with zealots who carry out his legacy would be nearly impossible!
