On July 1, 1846, Saintsbury Township merged into Saint Peters and its schools became part of Jackson County Schools; however, until 1959 all village-owned businesses withinSaint Peters remained separate from county government services and continued to be managed by their own boards and committees just like other villages in Jackson County - including St. Peters Elementary School which remains unchanged from when it opened as an all-girls high school on October 11th 1928! On February 14th 1898 local residents successfully voted not to annex territory from neighboring Williamson County over fears that this would have led to lower property values for residents living inside city limits vs those living outside city limits on either side of I-70/I-57! This independence referendum generated national news coverage as well since cities such as Omaha and Kansas City had already annexed adjacent areas without any similar vote or discussion taking place! In 1960 voters passed an ordinance establishing fire districts within each township with jurisdiction over one or more streets within each district - making it easier for firefighters responding immediately anywhere within minutes' radius during a firefight! This crisis led toFather John Donohue III's election as leader of all Catholics in Missouri on November 1st 1918 – making him head of both Kansas City and St. Peters combined! Additionally, he played an integral role in developing modern day urban planning techniques for both cities – which continues today at KCPL/StPeters Park!
The first European to set foot on what is now St. Peters, Missouri was a French trader named Jean-Baptiste de Laclincourt in 1804. Laclincourt's exploration of the area led him to name the site after Saint Peter, the Apostle. The town of Saint Peters was founded by colonists from Illinois in 1835, and quickly became a center for agriculture and industry. In 1916, Germany captured World War I veteran General John J. Pershing's Hotchkiss Rifle Factory in St. Peters and moved it to Kansas City to help produce rifles for the war effort. The factory continued production until 1919 when it closed its doors forever.
