St. Peters, Missouri is a small town located in the Southeast quadrant of Missouri, United States. The population was 4,595 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Springfield-Blue Springs Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land that would become St. Peters was first settled by French colonists in 1755 as fur trading post for the French and Indian War effort by General Marquis de Lafayette and Captain Pierre Francois De Soto. The name "St. Peters" was given to the settlement by Father Jacques Marquette who named it after his patron saint, Peter (the Apostle). In 1805, a group of Methodist missionaries founded a small Methodist church in what is now downtown St. Peters which served as their base camp during their travels across the United States preaching Christianity to Native Americans and others interested in conversion to Christianity. In 1812, when Missouri became a territory within the United States of America following its admission into Confederation as a new nation, St. Peters became its capital and remained so until 1863 when Independence was achieved from British rule over that area at Appomattox Court House under Ulysses S Grant’s occupation resulting in Missouri becoming an American state once again on November 15th that year with Saint Louis taking its place as its capital city under then Governor David Davenport’s administration After Confederate forces destroyed UnionGeneral Robert E Lee's army at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865 (the day before Richmond surrendered to Ulysses S Grant), Confederate General Jefferson Davis took control of Missouri from Ulysses S Grant and ordered all remaining Union troops out of that state including those stationed at Springfield where they had been living since 1862 while supplies were still being brought upriver from Illinois via boats New Madrid Bridge having been constructed just downstream from present day downtown St. Peters Finally free from military occupiers on April 12th 1865; St Louis reverted back to its original provisional name of Cairo before returning formally to Saint Louis on May 3rd 1865 becoming again MO on December 24th 1865 days after Lincoln's assassination Protestant reformation began here starting with Reverend John Wesley Edwards coming ashore January 7th 1826 followed by Dr James Kinsolving arriving February 6th 1830 thence Rev William Wirtz arriving March 22nd 1830 followed by Dr George Washington Dixon arrives October 21st 1831 prior to construction commencing on this site what would become known today as Christ Church Cathedral beginning on September 2nd 1836 with cornerstone laid December 10th 1836 also resulted in creation of present day Northside Neighborhood comprising parts of east side streets running north/south along high school campus currently home to many businesses located behind main building including Sears department store

The history of St. Peters, Missouri is rich and full of both the good and bad moments that characterize big towns in America. The town was founded in 1821 by General James K. Polk, who named it after his patron saint, St. Peter. In 1835, when the Kansas-Nebraska Act made Utah a U.S. state, many Missourians decided to move to Utah because they felt the new state would be more Republican than their home state of Missouri was. However, when the Nebraska Territory became parts of Iowa and then Dakota Territory in 1862, most of those Moores moved back to their old stomping ground. By 1870, only a few hundred people remained in the small town located on the confluence of the Osage River and Big Creek (later known as White Settlement). In 1871, around 300 residents formed a local church that soon became recognized for its preaching skills by pastors from nearby Carthagetown (now Independence). The first services were held on Easter Sunday at what is now called First Presbyterian Church (now Stone Mountain Baptist) with about 30 participants. After two years of hard work by preacher John Littell and his congregation, including building a schoolhouse and chicken coop (the first such structure in this part of Missouri), church membership reached 1300 by 1875; rapid growth was due primarily to missionary efforts by Revs Driscoll and Waddell from Illinois followed by others from all over North America who traveled to preach Christianity to Native Americans living along the Platte River Valley where St Peters lay claim to land granted them through treaties dating back centuries! During World War II much activity took place within St Peters limits as many men enlisted or volunteered for military service here including several officers who later commanded units stationed here during peace time periods before moving on up into larger commands once hostilities recommenced elsewhere in 1944-1945 In 1951 an expansion project added 5 acres eastward along Highway 136 which included 2 churches – First Presbyterian’s additions date back to 1907 while Second Presbyterian’s construction began circa 1945 following purchase/land donation from Dutch Reformed congregation there also located eastward on High Street between Third Avenue Southand Fourth Avenue North In 1957 Main Street was realigned southwesterly concurrent with erection of new public buildings including courthouse annexes west side original Courthouse being demolished subsequent erection with addition/ enlargement of jail & prison complex etc resulting largely in loss or diminution thereof since property lines have beenchanged numerous times thru annexation/divestiture etc…….. From thenceforth until present day access via main street has been restricted due various zoning regulations having caused major inconveniences…. Streetscape improvement projects ongoing throughout community….. Today St Peters remains one OF THE most vibrant & active places inside AND outside OF MOORE COUNTY LOCATED ON A LARGER AREA HEREIN IN MISSOURI
