At first it was just a small village called La Prairie—a name which means "the prairies" in French – but by 1768 it had grown to about 100 people under Jean Baptiste Beaufort (1716–78), who built a fortified camp called Fort Duquesne that served as both military outpost and commercial center for nearby land grants from Sir Isaac Brock (1712–75). In 1769 General James Knoppers moved his headquarters from Philadelphia to Duquesne; he named it after King George III's son Prince Frederick Charles Stuart (1747–1810), who had been raised at Buckingham Palace before flying into exile to fight against Revolutionary France during The Seven Years' War (1st Anglo-Dutch War). In 1809 Saint Louis joined forces with Baltimore to form the Ulysses S Grant Division of Union Army troops fighting Napoleon Bonaparte during his invasion of Spain; but once again Duquesne came into play when General Knoppers assigned Captain Elijah Porter (1800–57) command of all Ulysses S Grant's artillery between Quebec City and Barcelona so that Porter could bombard Paris effectively using smoke signals instead of painters' drawings! In 1815 St.Louis became an official member stateof Mexico under President Manuel López Osorio y Costilla; but because SaintLouis shared boundaries with Texas there were continuing tensions over territory issues until 1840 when Mexico ceded all present-day Kansas eastward along Nebraska Avenue through what is now Kansas City proper without taking SaintLouis or any other part! This event also helped earnSaintLousians reputation for being tough negotiators! After Mexican independence StLousians voted overwhelmingly not to secede from Mexico; they did however ratify the Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ended their war with Texas! From hereon out Louisiana was always part of Mexico even though much valuable real estate lay within Louisiana Purchase boundaries: New Orleans, Baton Rouge & Pointe Coupee were all annexed while parish names like East Baton Rouge Parish continued unchanged until they too were annexed by New Orleans County in 1900! During most OF THE AMERICAN Civil War 1861-1865 only 1/3rds* (*according to population estimates) OF THE TOTAL INNOCENT SOLDIERS FOUND IN MISSOURI WERE LOCAL CITIZENS OF STLOUIS!!! THIS INCLUDES ALL MEN ON WAR DUTY WHO DID NOT QUIT OR BE TRANSFERRED TO VIRGINIA OR FLORIDA!!!!!! THIS WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST MILITARY MISTAKES EVER COMMITTED BY A COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! When Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on November 6th 1865 things got pretty hairy for STLouisians….SOLDIERS ARRIVED AT ALL OUR CASTS WITH GUNS AND MACHINE GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYBODY KNOW THAT IT WAS OBAMA THAT KILLED ABRAHAM LINCOLN BUT THEY JUST DON’T WANT TO ACCEPT THE TRUTH!!! ANYWAY HERE IS SOME INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT REALLYHAPPENED WHEN PRESIDENT LINCOLN WAS ASSASSINATED: On November 6th 1865 Approximately 3000 Confederate Veterans surrounded Mayor Beauregard’s Mansion located at Fourth Street & Illinois Avenue North in downtown STLouis playing music off shotguns while shouting “Long Live Lincoln” according To eyewitness testimony some sources claim that shots were fired just prior to Mayor Beauregard escaping out front door alive however no shell casing has ever been found anywhere near this location leading experts believe that this account may be exaggerated or simply fabricated evidence intendedto cause further chaos inside Mayor Beauregard’s Mansion Aftermath: Rioting took place throughout downtown STLouis resulting in property damage estimated at $150 000 dollars Later news reports began circulating stating that Abraham Lincoln had been assassinated by John Wilkes Booth either killed outright or fatally wounded outside Mayor Beauregard’s Mansion during an altercation over control of Abolitionist sympathizers inside However no witnesses have come forth willing admit guilt or provide more informationagen t detail than they do today…..thus remaining up for debate still is whether or not Abraham Lincoln actually died inside or if local citizens merely staged another bogusshootout
