In addition to his work as a priest, Gomez has been involved with various social causes both domestically and abroad including fighting hunger in Mexico City, helping refugees flee war-torn Syria, working with children’s charities throughout Latin America and Europe (including building a school for kids with disabilities in Kenya), participating in relief drives during natural disasters such as Typhoon Haiyan or Hurricane Katrina (New Orleans), supporting human rights organizations such as Amnesty International or Oxfam Canada, or helping poor people learn about financial advice. Gomez is scheduled to be ordained into the priesthood on November 16th at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Parish in Overland Park KS will complete his formal training at The United States Catholic University School of Theology before serving as an assistant pastor at Our Lady Of Guadalupe until he is appointed bishopric
