In 1837, a town in St. Joseph, Missouri was founded by Mormons on the banks of the Niobrara River. The town became known as Nauvoo because it was where Brigham Young, founder of the Mormon Church, and his apostles first appeared after they arrived in Independence, Missouri in 1836. At that time Nauvoo contained nearly 1,000 Latter-day Saints (Mormons) and there were also several hundred non-Mormon families living nearby. In early 1840, when tensions between the Mormons and surrounding farmers began to mount, an mob of about 150 men converged on Nauvoo from various directions and destroyed most of the city's churches and other buildings. A few days later some 6 to 12 men from Illinois arrived at Nauvoo with intent to burn down the town. However, feeling pressure from LDS leader Young to protect his people before something worse happened, Brigham Young ordered them not to damage property or kill anyone. As a result of this incident local militia were called in order to restore order.
Pope Francis called for a "big feast" of St. Joseph on October 15th in honor of the saint's martyrdom at the hands of Pharaoh Ramses II during the old Testament period. The feast is also celebrated in numerous other places around the world, including Rome. St. Joseph was born to a peasant family on December 6th, 1724, in what is now known as northeastern Missouri. He became an Avenger of God after being taken up into heaven by the Angel Gabriel while still in his mother's womb. After helping to defeat an army led by Pharaoh RamsesII and his son Seti I, Joseph discovered that he had been chosen to become one of God's messengers on earth and thus was given new powers and authority over all people. He also founded two churches- one in Egypt and one in Palestine- which continue to be popularly worshipped today. In addition, he served as pastor of several small villages before being sent with Jesus Christ to Judea and then Galilee- where he ministered until His death on July 9th, 1902. Today we commemorate St. Joseph through various religious ceremonies throughout our yearlong cycle of Marian devotion beginning with Our Lady's Assumption (Easter) and concluding with Holy Week (October 15th). We also read special devotions specific to him each month during Advent/Christmas/New Year periods as well as Holy Week services specifically honoring his martyrdom under Pharaoh RamsesII.- See attached schedule for details!

The popularity of handguns led to the development of holster systems for handgun possession. holsters became popular because they allowed handguns to be stored securely without taking up too much space on either side of the body. Holsters also allowed for different calibers of firearms to be stored separately from each other in order to maintain consistent fire rates across all firearms types. St. Joseph, Missouri is a small town in the central United States about 35 miles (56 km) east of Kansas City and about 25 miles (40 km) south of Springfield. The population was 1,681 at the 2010 census. The name "St. Joseph" is derived from an early French Catholic missionary named Saint-Joseph who founded a mission there in 1804. The town was originally organized as a village in 1836 with 1,500 residents and was named for General John Brown's Raid on Topeka that year. It became a post office in 1850 and soon developed into an agricultural center, manufacturing goods such as shoes and saddles, among other items. In 1881 St. Joseph annexed what had been neighboring Osage County; this change gave the town its current boundaries. In 1906 St. Joseph established itself as a city through incorporation; it had 5,000 residents then but has since grown to over 20,000 people today including many who are Hispanic or Puerto Rican descent because of its large Spanish/Latino population dating back to when the area was part of Mexico City before it became part of the United States during World War II. As a city it has made significant advances such as expanding services like parks and libraries to include more minority groups, developing successful businesses such as software companies and medical centers, establishing itself as one of the most important economic engines in central Kansas City by creating jobs for local youths and opening up new areas for development like West Side Park which now comprises much of downtown St. Joe’s skyline view
Pope Pius IX established the Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of St. Joseph in 1847 and named it after the apostle who, according to legend, healed the sick in Egypt. The vicariate was divided into two provinces in 1861: one in Missouri, headed by Bishop John Cavanaugh, and another in Illinois, led by Archbishop John Fitzgerald. In 1876, the two provinces were combined under a single bishop. In 1904, Saint Louis Cathedral became the first cathedral built on an apostolic vicariate territory since its establishment more than two centuries earlier. In 1917-18, during World War I, St. Joseph Parish served as headquarters for military parishes throughout the United States.
