As part of that restored status quo, local Catholics formed one school board and elected three trustees—two men and one woman—for six years beginning in 1865; but by 1870 they had disbanded again because most people had left for better opportunities elsewhere within Unionism or Republicanism throughout Missouri overall during that time period due to political violence and economic insecurity after Reconstruction ended following America's successful entry into World War I (1914). However, by 1880s most members of St. Joseph's Parish still lived within a few miles radius of their churches so they continued operations through various fundraising drives such as those organized by Mother Theresa de Lourdes which netted $1 million over twenty years starting in 1904 along with several hundred voluntary contributions from individual Catholics across America totaling $2 million making them America’s largest religious order until 1950 when orders were discontinued due to increasing secularization rates among American Catholics). This proximity led to continued growth in the town during Reconstruction era times; however, many stores closed down due to lack of customers or competition from larger towns throughout Missouri at that time .
