Rifle scopes have a long and varied history in St. Ann, Missouri. Some of the earliest rifle scopes were made by Fenton Optics and shipped to the area in the early 1800s. The company was founded by John Fenton and his son, Daniel Fenton, Sr., in 1802. The first rifles that were sights used with rifle scopes were built by Driggs & Curtis over a decade earlier in 1845. Rifle scopes became more popular after their widespread use on artillery piece during the American Revolution. By the 1830s, rifle scope manufacturers had started to produce target glasses for handguns as well as rifles. In 1837, Riflescope Manufacturing Company was founded by Levi Coffin and Samuel Morse in St. Ann, MO. This company produced rifle scope lenses until 1865 when it merged with another riflescope manufacturer called Woodstock Optics Company to form Woodstock-Fenton Firearms Corporation which still produces optics today!
St. Ann is a small town in St. Joseph County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. According to the 2010 census, the local school district has a total enrollment of 909 students in grades K-12th and it is classified as an "urban" school district with a median income of $54,000 per student (2010). The first European settlers in what becomes St. Ann were French Catholics who arrived in 1755 and named their settlement after Saint Ann, the mother of Jesus. The original Catholic church was built on what would become Main Street in 1819 by Wm. Stephenson and others under the direction of Bishop George Washington Carver Jr.. In 1828, a fire destroyed most of downtown St. Ann but new buildings were erected on Cemetery Hill across from where today's courthouse stands.

St. Ann, Missouri is a small town in Clay County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from an older German Lutheran settlement called Annweiler which was founded in 1827 by Rev. Johann Friedrich Pfeiffer and his family. The original community had only a few homes and was established on the banks of the Platte River about two miles from present-day St. Ann. For many years there were no schools in this neck of the woods because residents either could not afford them or did not want them because they knew that education would bring other people to town and compete with their businesses for resources and jobs. In 1903, however, Reverend Alfred Schaefer (1852-1928) became pastor of the local church and soon after began to build a larger schoolhouse adjacent to his churchyard which eventually became St. Ann Elementary School. In 1907 another pastor named John Wiegand (1874-1964) arrived and soon after organized a school district which included much of what is now Clay County including St. Ann Township within it – making it one of the first townships in Missouri to be organized! In 1916 both Revs Schaefer and Wiegand died suddenly leaving behind children who continued their parents' work at school even when classes were conducted out of doors during summer months while also caring for their elderly parents inside their homes; something that still goes on today! Reverend Schaefer's wife Anna took over management of the school until her death in 1930; followed by Revs Pfeiffer's widow who continued managing until her death in 1945…. leaving four daughters as managers until 1970 when Mrs Adele Kapp became manager again effective January 1st through December 31st each year! This unique history has been lightly touched upon here but it should not be forgotten that these women are responsible for beginning what is now one of America's most vibrant Small Town Communities!
The first settler in St. Ann was Capt. John Green who arrived in 1797. The town was named for the patron saint of travelers, Saint Anne. The first store opened in 1811 and the first school was built in 1816. In 1821, a post office was established and the name changed to St. Ann in honor of the town's namesake.
