St. Ann is an unincorporated community in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. It lies south of Florissant Avenue on the east side of Route 66. The first European to visit what is now St. Ann was Jean Baptiste de La Salle on May 6, 1666, during his missionary trip from France to present-day Missouri and Arkansas as part of a larger mission called theJesuits. He named the place "Annon" after his patron saint, Annunciation (1436–1523). A post office called Annon was established in 1837, and remained in operation until it closed in 1972. As part of its history Annon experienced heavy musical influences from its many Irish immigrants who bought land hereabouts and began erecting churches and other religious buildings beginning in the late 1800s; this led to the nickname "Irishtown." Many people associated with Annon are still alive today including current Mayor Donnie Borders and City Councilman Bob Kuehner (D-Annon). Kuehner also played professional football for Annon High School's football team from 1984-1986 while attending school here before going on to play college ball at Mizzou University. In recent years some residents have been voicing concern about how much their town has changed since they were last there - most notably City Councilman Bob Kuehner's efforts to keep some aspects of town unchanged despite objections from some residents/ businesses who feel that changes could lead to increased crime rates and less jobs for locals which would negatively impact their quality of life

The parish grew rapidly from its initial membership of just seventy-six to over three thousand Catholics by 1840. Pope Pius IX designation of the parish as a "provincial episcopal see" on April 10, 1850 led to an expansion of the services offered and increased contributions from individuals and businesses within the city's Irish-Catholic population. In 1860, St. Ann became one of only two Roman Catholic parishes in the state without its own church building. A new church was built at Eighth and Locust Streets in 1868 and dedicated by Bishop John Hughes. In 1914, during World War I, Saint Ann became one of twenty-four U.S. Catholic churches bombed by German forces in Belgium; all but four were destroyed with loss of life including five priests killed outright or seriously injured. Despite this tragedy, Sts Anna continued to offer religious services despite enemy airstrikes throughout World War I until 1920 when all but two pastors resigned after being ordered to do so by their superiors because they were not Protestantites like their counterparts in other cities which had been targeted primarily for military purposes (see also: Belgian Church Bombing). A new rectory was constructed on North Third Street between State and High streets in 1916 following a gift from Mrs. Frances McNamara which included $5,000 toward construction costs (). The rectory remained unoccupied for many years due to lack of use but it was finally converted into apartments in 1984/1985 (). The present day St Ann Parish is composed principally of Irish Catholics who have resided within its boundaries since before it was organized as a parish on October 15th 1834 through various donations and missionary efforts dating back to then including Father Michael Kearney himself who served as pastor from 1840-1860 while also working with neighboring parishes such as Christ the King Parish (later renamed Holy Cross Parish) which he helped found in 1851 followed by Our Lady Of Fatima Parish founded circa 1865 which remains today one of STL’s most active apostolic clusters both inside and outside our borders along with numerous social service organizations such as CASA (Children’s Asocial Support Program) that serve familiesrmilies located near us often struggling economically even though we continue to operate out-of-state facilities here at home
The first St. Ann's Episcopal Church was built in 1827 on a tract of land that had been donated by James Fenton, the father of St. Louis entrepreneur Nicholas Fenton. The church served as the parish’s worship place until 1851 when it became the new home of the city’s second Catholic parish, Our Lady of Lourdes. In 1868, after years of planning and fundraising, the Parish moved to its present location on Market Street in St. Louis and began construction on what would become one of downtown’s most iconic landmarks. On July 24th, 1886, cornerstone was laid for what would become the current building which has been used for services since 1870.
