St. Ann, Missouri is a small town in St. Joseph County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,222 at the 2010 census. It lies east of Springfield on the banks of the Arkansas River. The first Europeans to explore and settle in present-day St. Ann were French traders who traveled along the river in 1680 and 1685 as part of their trade with Native Americans. A Jesuit mission was established here in 1795 by Father Jacques Marquette and Brothers Pierre-Jacques André and René Laval; it later became known as Sainte-Anne de la Rivière. In 1821–22, General James K. Polk's army invaded Missouri during the Mexican–American War after discovering that Mexico had been storing ammunition for Confederate forces in what is now St. Ann Township; about 1,000 settlers were killed or captured while resisting American forces thereupon, making this one of the bloodiest episodes in Missouri history. Today, St. Ann is an agricultural community that has seen significant growth over the last few decades thanks to its proximity to Springfield and its role as a hub for local trade and transportation within the Ozarks region surrounding Springfield: it is also home to two major shopping malls (the Walmart Supercenter located east of town near Interstate 40) as well as several restaurants and small businesses used mainly for services such as banking or health care delivery service (such as clinics operated by Mercy Medical Group). The economic engine behind this growth has been a large number of jobs related to production agriculture: massive corn crops have helped contribute to both local economy overall (particularly around Stann Creek Farms—a major employer since 2007)—and statewide income levels through export earnings from products produced hereabouts including ethanol made from corn stalks processed at nearby Enercon Industries Inc.—largest producer of ethanol in North America—and other feedstocks used for manufacturing purposes nationally including plastics, automotive parts and other fabricated materials used throughout North America (including many items exported back into Canada via U.S.-owned Keystone Bridge Ports Ltd.).

St. Ann is a small town in Scott County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is named after Saint Ann, patron saint of women and children. The first settlers arrived in 1827 and soon established a center for trade and worship on the bank of the Kaskaskia River. They were followed by others who built churches and businesses in what is now St. Ann. In 1886, when Central School District No. 1 was organized in Scott County, Stanns church became its first schoolhouse and continued to serve as such until it burned down in 1937. The current courthouse was built between 1902-1904 by J C Gentry as a memorial to his father-in-law, General John Crouch Jr., who had served as a colonel with General Ulysses S Grant's army during the American Civil War and died that year at the age of 92 years old. After General Crouch's death, local citizens raised money to build an addition which cost $5,000 and was dedicated on October 10th 1904 by Mayor H L Brownell Sr.. On November 17th 1924 fire destroyed most of the original courthouse including its belltower which still hangs today outside of town limits; however not all portions remain rebuildable including its cornerstone which still stands inside town limits next to Court House Square where dances are often held every summertime to celebrate Stanns history
The first settler in St. Ann was John Churchill, who arrived in 1804. The community started as a small village and grew over time to include a number of buildings, including a courthouse and jail. In the early 1900s, the town became an important transportation hub for the area due to its location on the Missouri River. The town also saw growth in agriculture, with wheat, corn and other crops being grown until the early 1960s. In recent years, St. Ann has seen steady growth as an arts and culture center, with several local businesses moving into the community to offer services such as hair dressers, nail salons and more.
