St. Ann, Missouri is a small town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The first people to settle in what is now St. Ann were farmers who came from Illinois in the 1840s and 1850s. In 1858, Father Pierre-Antoine Lorette founded a Catholic church here and named it after Saint Anne of Hungary, one of his companions on his missionary journey to North America. The original building still stands today as an active parish church with services on Monday evenings and Saturdays. In 1865, local entrepreneur James Hickey built a sawmill here that became one of the largest in the area and allowed for other businesses to be established around it such as a grocery store and post office. By 1875, there were twelve businesses operating in this small town with over 2,000 residents Employing more than 350 residents at its peak Little Rock businessmen Maurice Wainwright and Milt Hanson bought out Hickey's interest in the mill in 1887 for $2 million dollars which made St Ann one of the most prosperous communities within easy driving distance of downtown Little Rock! In 1907 local resident Morey Blythe donated land for what would become St Ann High School (now known as Truman High School). This school was designed by noted American architect George Fowler with limestone blocks quarried nearby and finished locally by labor gangs using only power tools! Work on Woodrow Wilson’s presidential inauguration platform began here on April 12th 1912 while construction continued until 1913! A water tower also stood near this site prior to its demolition during World War II following heavy damage caused by artillery shell fire!!! This community has seen many boom times throughout its history including prohibition when bootlegging became popular; electrification when industry relocated to this area; numerous expansions during the 20th century including two high schools (St Annes & Truman) plus several apartment buildings; steady growth since 2000 thru annexation by neighboring city Park Rapids due largely to economic development opportunities emanating from oil & gas exploration activity located adjacent thereto!!

This led to some economic instability and conflict between local businesses and city officials over who should have control over important resources such as land or water rights? In 1861, an unofficial agreement was reached between these two groups that stabilized the situation for a short time but ultimately did nothing to improve relations between the two groups
The first Europeans to visit the area were the French in 1764. The British followed in 1765, and then the United States acquired it in 1803. The town was founded on a small stream that flowed through the area, and its name is derived from St. Ann's Parish, which was established in 1762.
