These areas offer many stores including department stores Sears, JCPenney, Macy's etc., local Mexican grocery chains La Mesa Mercado/El Pueblo Grande or convenience stores as well as several art galleries (including one cluster focused on African American history) Downtown Springfield also contains several large universities - University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign; University of Missouri-Columbia; Notre Dame de Namur University; Ball State University
