For example, Glock pistols are now being produced with 3-inch barrel lengths instead of 2-inch Barrel lengths like their predecessors. This change allows for a greater number of rounds to be fired per minute when firing at close range (i.e., within 10 feet), which is essential forLaw enforcement officers and other professionals who frequently face close quarters combat situations. Gun manufacturers have responded by developing alternativeFN Pistols that use 4-inch or 5-inch barrel designs that are still capable of firingballistics gelatin cartridges. The history of Springfield's gun industry can be traced back to 1881 when two brothers named John Hickey and Patrick McNamara started manufacturing cannonballs from lead shot using a small mill on the banks of the James River in downtown Springfield. In 1932 E&W sold its ammunition business to Remington Arms Corporation which continued producing lead shot ammunition under its own name until 1936 when it too ceased operations due to World War II munitions restrictions; during this period Remington Arms Corporation was responsible for manufacturing almost all lead shot Ammunition used in the US (excepting British Ammunition which was manufactured by A Mannlicher & Sons company)). In 1955 Hickey Brothers merged with Brownells Corporation who continued producing cannonballs under their own names until 1971; Brownells Corporation was responsible for manufacturing nearly all lead shot Ammunition used in North America except British Ammunition which was manufactured by A Mannlicher & Sons company). Consequently Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRAC) emerged as oneofthe largest producers of firearm projectiles world wide beginning around 1920 while Armoury Products Incorporated (API) emerged as oneofthe leading importers/distributors worldwide beginning around 1930'. As WRAC began marketing its own line of Spencer High Velocity pistol rounds beginning around 1924 API soon outgrew its capacity - purchasing adjacent real estate - making it oneofthe few companies outsideOfAmericatoeverdominateimportation/export(and even then only within certain geographical areas). By 1961 both WRACandAPIwere merging into Winchester Repeating Arms Company effective January 1st,, 1962 but latter retained some vestiges OFtheir earlier nonunionized status.(Although subsequently unionized.)

Springfield is a small town in the Ozarks region of Missouri. It was founded in 1837, and has been named a city four times. The population of Springfield was reported as 21,820 in 2010, making it the second-largest city in Missouri. The town was originally called "Isabella" after Isabella County, Kansas, which at that time included much of present-day Springfield. The first settler to come to Springfield was John Isbell, who arrived on July 2, 1837. In 1840, General James K. Polk built his home here and named the community for him. In 1847, the United States Congress passed an act creating Washington County ostensibly to include parts of present-day Springfield but actually because farmers there were objecting to being taxed by two separate jurisdictions. So when Jefferson County was formed from part of Washington County on November 3, 1847 – just eleven days after Congress’s act – all but one man living within Springfield (John Millington) chose not to join Jefferson County because they feared their land would be taken away from them if they did so. They boycotted government until March 4th when they finally complied and voted unanimously for county seat at Carthage instead. In 1861–1865 Union troops burned down the old courthouse in downtown Springfield while maneuvering around Confederate skirmishes taking place across town; this event is also known as "The Burning of Springfield." A new courthouse was erected shortly thereafter and opened on October 9th 1865; this building served as both localjudicial court house and post office until 1915 when it became State Capitol Building #2 and remains so today (see photo). The town grew steadily in population until the early 1800s, when it reached its peak with a population of around 25,000 people. However, the city's growth gradually slowed down after the turn of the century as transportation became more available and manufacturing took over. By 1911, Springfield had only 10,000 residents and was in decline. However, through economic development and investment in new infrastructure such as public schools and highways, the city began to reverse its fortunes starting in the late 1960s and has since grown rapidly once again.
