Hildebrandt and his son-in-law George Dickson (1868-1937). This store was later renamed Dickson's Hardware & More and remained open until it closed in 1979. On November 25, 1872, rollers from Fenton County came to Rolla to begin construction of the Missouri Central Railroad mainline from Manchester to Jefferson City. On December 2nd, rollers arrived at the town square where they unloaded their equipment and set up shop under a high rock outcropping near where Main Street now intersects West Rural Road. This early development can be seen on downtown streets which still bear roller name names such as State Street and Market Streets today; but only First National Bank stands original today with its historic brick facade remaining intact despite many remodelings over time including one in 2006 that removed most of its interior brickwork while leaving the exterior unchanged At that time it also served as one of only two buildings still standing on Main Street between State and Market Streets that are representatives of an earlier era when this part of town was primarily agricultural with few businesses located along main streets . One other building that remains intact is Piggly Wiggly which operated from 1924 until 1984 before moving into what is now CenturyLink Field .
