Raytown, Missouri is a town in Warren County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,095 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. In 1836, Simeon Wright and his family moved from Clay County to Raytown after purchasing two lots in the village of Springdale. They built a log cabin and named it "Wright's Cabin." In 1839, their son Samuel married Abigail Smith and the Wrights began to raise chickens for eggs and meat. They also started to grow corn on their land. By 1861, they had three children: James W., Mary L., and Salmon P. Wright (Samuel's brother). In 1863, Salmon was appointed justice of the peace for Warren County; he served until 1871 when he died at age 54 years old. In 1892-93 John Everson platted what became Raytown on land that he had bought from Samuel Wright in 1841. He built a small brick house called "Everson's House" which still stands today on Main Street in Raytown. When World War I began in 1914, Everson enlisted in the army as an artilleryman and was sent to Europe where he served with distinction during World War I before returning home to manage his farm until his death in 1922. The post office first opened in 1907 and continued operation until it closed on December 31st of 1955 due to low mail volume combined with changes within theWarren County postal service caused by consolidation among other counties inside Missouri during that time period A new post office called "Raytown" was established at this location on January 15th of 1956 by Order No 855 from then Governor James Moulton Kneeland The current name given to this post office is derived from its original namesake - Simeon Wright's cabin - which sits today next door to Highway 169 just south of Interstate 70 exit 608/I-70 exit 63 . The town hall building located across Main Street from Highway 169 housed both the Post Office Department & Municipal Court services up until September 2011 when they were relocated into what was once Johnson Senior High School which now houses the Raytown Community Schools

Raytown is a town in south-central Missouri, United States. The population was 1,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Raytown–Jefferson City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Raytown were French settlers who arrived in 1798. They named their settlement after Pierre-Charles de Ray, an officer with the French army during the American Revolutionary War. The first school was established in 1802 and session began on November 3, 1805. In 1816, a sawmill and gristmill were built and operated until 1870. A post office was established at Raystown in 1819 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. In 1861, Confederate General Nathaniel Peebles burned all of Independence County’s stores before retreating to Cairo, Illinois. This destroyed much of the county courthouse property which made it necessary for a new courthouse to be built within two years. The cornerstone for this new courthouse was laid on December 15, 1865 by Governor John Skelton and later became known as “the Capitol of South Missouri” because of its location near Jefferson City (now Kansas City). The railroad reached Raytown on October 12, 1886 from Jefferson City via Hannibal; construction began that same day and finished four days later. The first trainload of passengers arrived on November 6th; the town had been designated as a depot for this line by District Five Commissioner James Hickey upon its completion! In 1907, Raymond Dewayne Carney opened his successful grocery store at 5 Main Street which would become one of the most popular businesses in town until it closed operations in 1984 due to changes within local markets thereby reducing customer base by 50%.
