Raymore is a small town located in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Raymore community began as a scattering of farming families who came to this area in 1881 during the great Kansas–Nebraska Land Rush. By 1925, the population had increased to 1,571 and by 1930 it had reached 2,048. The first post office opened in Raymore on December 20, 1881. In 1911 the name was changed from Center to Raymore after local rancher John Raymore donated land for a school and store within his own hometown limits. In 1923 an addition to the original school was built which became known as "Bella Vista" after Mrs. Bella Webb who served as principal until her retirement in 1951; Mrs. Webb also paid for all new construction and maintainence of the building until it was sold to the school board in 1958. This addition houses today's administration offices for both schools and provides classrooms, library with an attached science lab and playground/civic center that include a gymnasium/hallway/multi-purpose room/. In 1969 another addition was made to "Bella Vista", which became known as "Lena". This addition housed our current high school (later named "Raymore East") when it opened its doors on September 30th of that year followed by Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School on October 9th . On July 10th of 1990 we celebrated our centennial with an open house attended by many dignitaries including Governor James Meeks (D) and Mayor Tom D’Alessandro (D). We were blessed with beautiful weather conditions throughout most of Saturday evening making photos possible inside/outside our building but unfortunately due to smoke damage some windows were not able to be replaced so we will have Tooele High School Library displayed inside while still being used as our high school library

Raymore is a town in Raymore County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The Raymore community was founded in 1868 by two men who were prospectors on the Upper Missouri River Valley: John Cramer and Samuel Worthington. In 1870, when the first post office was established in the community, it was called Fort Worth because no one could be found to take care of it. The name changed to Raymore after Colonel James A. Ray (1823-1900), an officer in the Union army during the American Civil War and owner of a large tract of land east of present-day Raymore. In 1872, residents organized a Baptist church and named it for their pioneer leader, James A. Ray Sr.: "JAMES ARABOR" became "RAYMORE". In 1876, school District No. 5 consolidated with School District No. 10 and both districts became known as "RAYMORE SCHOOL DISTRICT NOVEMBER 15TH 1870" until December 15th 1956 when they were again renamed as "RAYMORE SCHOOL DISTRICT NOVEMBER 15TH 1966" due to consolidation with other school districts within St Louis County including Maplewood Township which had also been merged into St Louis County that year; this change reflected changes in parish boundaries within St Louis County caused by annexations from neighboring counties including Grandview Heights annexation on November 1st 1965 and Creston annexation on January 31st 1970.) On December 15th 1970 all three schools reemerged as one school district under the name "RAYMORE SCHOOL DISTRICT NOVEMBER 15TH 1870". On July 1st 1902 a fire destroyed most of what remains of downtown businesses and residences; only 9 buildings still stand today including 4 churches (all built before 1900). The current city hall building replaced an earlier structure which served as a courthouse from 1856 to 1862; it is also home to the oldest Masonic Lodge in Missouri dating back to 1796! The community experienced several expansions over time: in 1924 there was an addition of a movie theater; in 1958 there were two hospitals affiliated with Rush University Medical Center; finally, on February 26th 1975 another hospital affiliation was added when Methodist Health System moved its headquarters from nearby Kirksville to northeast corner of town whereupon all three hospitals became affiliated as well- making raymore one small hospital system!
Raymore was founded in 1836 by Captain Jesse Ray and his family. The town grew rapidly, becoming a center for cotton production and trade. In the 1870s, Raymore became a leading center of education in the area. In the 1920s and 1930s, the town lost its prominence but still retains some of its cultural significance.
