Raymore, MO is a small town located in the Ozarks region of Missouri. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. As early as 1892, Raymore had an optical store. In 1907, dentist and inventor Charles W. Kettering opened his first dental office in Raymore and began selling eye glasses and other optical products. In 1926, Dr. Harry Niles started selling medical supplies in Raymore and soon became one of the most popular sellers of optical equipment in the area. By 1954, Dr. Niles had become president of Medtronic Corporation and built one of the largest medical equipment businesses in the world from his home office until his death in 2002. There are several theories as to how the name originated: one suggests that early settlers named their home after a favorite horse they had been riding; another theory suggests that Royer family members pooled resources and decided to adopt a new name for themselves as soon as possible due to its similarity to "Rambler." One of the most important aspects of Raymore's history is its role in World War I and II. In 1914, locals raised money and shipped munitions worth $5,000 to help finance World War I; two years later, they donated 10 guns and ammunition to the Union army during World War II (the only time this type of donation was made). Today, Raymore retains much of its past culture with annual events such as Bluegrass & Gospel weekend which features country music concerts with artists like George Jones and Willie Nelson; Rambler Days which celebrates local farm production; Fourth of July celebration featuring patriotic games and fireworks displays from various locations around town; and Christmasfest which features both traditional holiday activities such as caroling through downtown streetside windows on Christmas Eve or watching live streaming lights parade down Main Street onChristmas morning

Raymore is a town in Ia County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,756 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1836 by Elijah Hill and his family. The town was named for General John A. Ray of the Union army.
Raymore was founded in 1812 by Joshua B. Raymore and his wife Eliza Ann. The town grew quickly, and by 1838 it had a population of over 100 people. In the 1840s, the town became the home to a fur trading post called Fort Whyte. The post was abandoned in 1848, and Raymore gradually lost its importance as a trading center. However, the community continued to thrive for some time after that. In 1870, Raymore became part of the new Carroll County when it was formed from parts of what were then St. Francois County and Kankakee County. The county seat at that time was Carthage (now Des Moines). By 1900, however, Raymore had all but disappeared as a populated area due to increased development around Carbondale and other nearby towns. It re-emerged as an agricultural community during World War II when Carbondale was bombed by Japanese forces in 1942. After the war, raymore regained its status as an important local community with a focus on agriculture again.
