There were 4,851 households out of which 362 (14%) had children under the age of 18 living with them., 569 (27%) were married couples living together,, 106 (4%) had a female householder with no husband present,, 113 (4%) had a male householder with no wife present., and 261 (9%) had non-families living alone who are 65 years or older.[12] In terms of education level: 507 individuals (24%) possessed high school diploma or less while 702 individuals (30%) held some college degree.;[13] 806 individuals () had no education beyond High School

The town took its name from nearby Mount Ray, which was named for John's father-in-law. In 1859, a sawmill and gristmill were built in the town; these mills produced flour for local markets and also exported flour to other countries. In 1930, Raymore had two stores and three residences; by 1940 it had six stores and twelve residences. During World War II,RayMORE became known as one of America’s “Axis Bases” due to its strategic location between Missouri City and San Antonio Texas along the supply route for Japanese troops marching through America during World War II During the 1960s through 1970s many new homes began being built throughout the community of about 4500 residents located on over 8000 acres of farmland including cornfields that stretched eastward into Illinois In 1972 referendum results showed that almost 60% of residents wanted their city renamed “Mansfield” after Mansfield Park outside of Springfield where then Mayor Harry Byrd lived In 1990 a fire destroyed most of downtown Raymondmere leaving only 12 homes standing
