The Raymore Pistol Light Company was organized in 1881 and began manufacture of pistols and revolvers with the light design. The company continued to produce firearms until it closed in 1939. The pistol lights were a direct descendant of the early muzzleloading firearms, and their use was widespread throughout the American West during the 19th century. In 1881, Pasko Manufacturing Corporation produced a version of this type of firearm that used an oil-fired lamp instead of an electric filament to produce light. This type of weapon became known as the “Pasko Pistol Light” due to its resemblance to original rayguns manufactured by Pasko in 1876. After World War II, production resumed for handguns and other Firearms products by Republic Arms Corporation. After many years of production, Republic Arms Corporation closed its doors in 2006. However, some guns still remain on hand today at various gun shows throughout Missouri including Springfield Armory where they are commonly displayed under the name “Old Raymore Guns”
