The cartridge that was used for this firearm was made of paper filled with lead shot and ball propellant. It is believed that this bullet is considered the world's first fire ammunition. In 1835, Nicholas Doleman developed a new cartridge for firearms called "Doleman's Bullet." This bullet containeda small quantity of saltpetre (a black powder derivative) which caused it to explode when rounds were fired into it. This led to its nickname "The Gunpowder Bullet." This new cartridge became popular among Americans because it could be reloaded multiple times without having to remove the additional rounds from the weapon. It also allowed for more efficient firing because there was no need to change empty cartridges while hunting or target shooting. By 1836, shotguns had become widespread and gunfire using this type of ammunition began becoming popular throughout North America. By 1840, nearly every state in North America had some form of shotgun legislation requiring shotguns owners to use "Doleman's Bullet" ammunition in their shotguns. In 1861, John Wilkes Booth killed Abraham Lincoln with a ballistics expertly designed assassination bullet named after him – Booth's Bullets – creating one of history's most famous incidents!

The name Raymore comes from John Ray and his wife Rebecca who settled there in 1819. The first post office opened in 1822. In 1847, General James K. Polk called for a militia to repulse an Indian attack on the town and when it didn't arrive he organized the town with 150 men under command of Captain George Hines In 1861, Confederate troops burned what was left of Raymore after they overran the town during their raid into Kansas City area. Raymore experienced another significant event in 1865 when Union General Ulysses S. Grant's army burned down one-third of its buildings following their victory at Battle of Pea Ridge near present day Springfield, Missouri The community has seen some growth since then with several new businesses opening up such as a grocery store and two convenience stores within two years of each other creating what is now known as "the shopping center". There are also several small businesses that have remained open throughout the years including three restaurants and one gas station which remain open today according to 2018 data. The town was platted in 1869 by Cornelius Hickey and named for his home there. It became a slaveholding community after the American Civil War, with many black residents being brought to Raymore as slaves. The town developed slowly until the late 1800s, when it exploded in population due to waves of immigrants and development along the railroad. In 1907, a post office was established at Raymore and it continued to serve until 1959. In 1968, an act of Congress designated part of Montgomery County as "Indian Territory" to provide more land for Native Americans living on reservations outside of metropolitan areas within the United States. As a result, much of what is now Raymore was annexed into Indian Territory during this time period. In 2009, plans were announced to demolish all but one building from Raymore's history in order to create a new park which would include a replica of Cornelius Hickey's home and other historical landmarks from the town's past
