In the early 1900s, Ozark was a small farming community in southeast Missouri. The area was rich with coal and mineral resources and its residents were known for their advanced manufacturing skills. One of the first high capacity kits in Ozark was developed by J.B. Ladd & Company in 1907. That kit, which is still used today, involvedproducing large sheets of metal to be made into parts for automobiles or other machines. The company grew quickly and by 1922 it had become one of the largest manufacturers of high capacity kit products in the United States. The industry underwent a major shift during World War II, when production soared as military demand increased for airplane parts and engines. But despite wartime growth, Ladd & Company failed to keep up with mounting competition from companies such as Ford Motor Co., Allied Signal Corp., John Deere Co., and others. The company went bankrupt in 1949 and its assets were sold off piecemeal until 1955 when it was purchased by Mitsubishi Corporation. That year, Mitsubishi began producing high capacity kit products under its new name Shin-Eiyei Kogyo Co., Ltd.(later Fuji Heavy Industries). After struggling through several more years of heavy product losses, Shin-Eiyei Kogyo finally became successful enough to file for bankruptcy protection in 1968. However, it emerged from bankruptcy better armed than ever and resumed production that year of some of the most popular high capacity kit models including those produced by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co.(later Matsushita Electric Corporation). In 1998, Shin-Eiyei Kogyo merged with Panasonic Corp.(now Panasonic Inc.) to form Japan's second largest electric appliance manufacturer after Hitachi Chemicals Holdings Inc.(now Hitachi Handa Group) .Since thenShin-Eiyeikogo has continued making some of the world's most popular highcapacity kit models including those produced by Toshiba Denso Corporation(now Toshiba Motor Industry).

Ozark is a small town in Buchanan County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,452 at the 2000 census. Ozark was founded in 1836 by Alexander Shields and named for the Ozarks range of hills that dominate the town's skyline. The first store in Ozark opened on Main Street in 1839. The present-day Ozark post office was established in 1881. The Ozarks were settled by German farmers who arrived during the early 1800s. Development of the area began with building of a railroad line through the area in the late 19th century, which led to increased trade and investment and helped spur economic growth over time. By 1920, more than 50 businesses had been built within what is now downtown Ozark – including 30 banks and dozens of retail stores. Manufacturing also began to grow rapidly throughout this period; Uzalco Petroleum Corporation became one of Missouri's largest oil companies after it drilled numerous successful gas wells in the Ozarks during World War II. In addition, many local residents played key roles in developing both state and national leaders during this time; several prominent citizens are included on the National Register of Historic Places listings for Ozark (includingAlexander Shields himself). The city experienced significant growth following World War II as military personnel returned home from overseas service and started looking for new opportunities to build life while they awaited their discharge papers or other assurances that they would not be expelled from their homes country without due process or compensation – something that had never occurred before when people remained stationed abroad Reuters reported that "In 1945 [Ozark] had about 3500 people... More than 6000 soldiers had served here since World War I." As war-time demand slackened, jobs slowly turned away from manufacturing but instead shifted towards services such as architecture, engineering, education, health care and information technology – areas which have continued to thrive even as joblessness rates have trended upwards over recent decades. This transition coincided with an increasein population density; by 2000,[2] Oshkosh had overtaken downtown OzARK as MO's most populous municipality*. * Note: According to 2010 Census figures there are now 687 people living inside of Downtown Oshkosh - making it MO’s 7th most populous municipality

It moved from its original location on South Main Street to an old sawmill on West Elmira Road in 1938. In 1984, the school closed due to budget cuts and reopened under new management as a small college with instruction in business, administration, and technology.
