After Jackson's death in 1845, his son Zachary took over management of the ranch and development of commerce in present-day Ozark began with stores and a post office on its square mile (0.6 km²). Ozark served as capital of Arkansas from 1861 to 1865; however, it became known as one of America's "inner cities" due to its large population density which made it difficult for politicians or bureaucrats to traveling around without being scorned or ridiculed by natives who thought they were dirty traders coming down with more white blood than they could handle! It wasn't until after World War II when Olathe moved into town; this migration was largely due to Kansas City's closing down during prohibition which left many job opportunities open up for those looking for work outside their home state!
In 1836, the Missouri Compromise was passed which ended slavery in the state. The following year, Kansas became a state and Ozark County was established. The county is named for George Washington Cotton, who donated land to it in 1838. Ozark is one of the most prosperous counties in Missouri.
