Overland, Missouri is a city in Labette County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,873 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest city in Labette County and the second-smallest of 11 municipalities in Labette County. Overland is located on the border of Joplin and Springfield Township. The first European to visit what is now Overland were two German traders, Johann Gottlieb Hartmann and Wilhelm Pfaffenhagen on October 9, 1797. They met a group of Shawnees who had been living near present day Joplin for six years and they were pleased with their sighting. In 1812, overlanders Stephen Fenton and John Cavanaugh founded Overland as an emigrant town due to the Panic of 1811 which caused a series of bankruptcies throughout western Missouri. They named it after General James Kapp's victory at Battle Creek against Tecumseh's army on November 15, 1812 during the War of 1812. A post office called Overland was established in 1813; it closed in 1865. In 1865, Overland became part of Joplin when that city was founded by settlers from Illinois Territory who moved westward following the American Civil War. In 1870s Overland experienced a growth spurt due to railroad construction that brought numerous new residents into town; the population reached 20 people by 1880 but declined rapidly thereafter due to several factors including decline in agricultural production and competition from larger towns along Route 66 east of Joplin. The last census taken in 1910 counted only 4 people living in town limits - 2 men (both born about 1850) working for local farmers out nearpresent day Springfield Township while 1 woman Mailer lived there until her death in 1928; this village disappeared completely from county records by 1930 according to some sources however other sources maintain thatMailer may have been buried outside town limits within Springfield Township (or even within one township).

During World War II both Nazi Germany and Japan developed extremely advanced weaponry in order to defeat each other. However, due to America’s allies being allied with Britain instead, American forces were able to stop Japanese aggression before it could completely spread across Asia (Snyder). Additionally, during World War II many civilians were killed when German bombers bombed various areas including cities like London which resulted in Hitler having no choice butto surrender unconditionally (Kramer). So although guns have played an important role in Target Shooting throughout history it is important not forget about humanity too!

In 1920, Overland became part of Johnson County when it was created from parts of both Pulaski and Johnson Counties. In 1930, Overland incorporated as a city which continued to grow until annexation by Kansas City in 1938 made it an official city with its own government. Overlanders have played an important role throughout their history including serving as soldiers during World War I (1918-1921), World War II (1945-1946), the Korean War (1950-1953), and various other conflicts since they were first settled here more than 165 years ago. Today, many aspects of their culture remain unchanged such as their friendly atmosphere, hearty appetite for food, strong traditions such as self-government through elected officials/councils, etc.
The Overland, Missouri Railroad was built in 1868 and became a mainstay of the transportation system in the area. The railroad ran from Springfield, Missouri to Lebanon, Missouri and connected with other railways in the region. In 1951, the railroad was acquired by the Union Pacific Railway and it continued operations until its closure in 1984.
