The early revolver sights were crude and unsatisfactory. Many arms manufacturers, including Colt, tried to improve the design of their revolvers with the development of the “gun sight” in 1856. The first effective gunsight was a simple iron object mounted on a small staff so that it could be easily moved around to provide accurate aim at close range. A large number of these guns were used by frontier militias during the 1850s and 1860s before they were replaced by firearms using more advanced breech-loading mechanisms. In Overland, Missouri, one of the few communities in Kansas that maintained its own militia until 1861, handguns began to be manufactured in significant numbers between1860 and 1870. This increase can be traced back to two factors: First, gun battles between Union forces and Confederate units became increasingly frequent as the war went on; second, farmers in Overland began obtaining rifles and shotguns for personal use as protection from cattle rustlers. When Congress made it illegal for citizens of any state except New York City to possess any type of rifle or shotgun without a license, many residents turned to handguns as their best option for self-defense. Gun sights continued to play an important role in handgunnery throughout this period; however, they were generally much more sophisticated than those used with rifles or shotguns. One notable exception was an improved “piste” sight developed by Major George Armstrong Dixon in 1876 which allowed shooters to ADS (aim down the barrel) mode while firing single shots from short distances. Pistolners who wished to use multiple rounds per shot could do so by mounting a separate sight system on each armature respectively known as a “flashback” system or simply an adjustable adjunctive front Sight (AFS). These various types of sights remained popular into the early years of machine pistols such as Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)ights and Walther P38 pistols after they became available with interchangeable barrels via modern manufacturing techniques beginning in World War II

Overland, Missouri is a small town located in the state of Missouri. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. For many years Overland has been a bedroom community for Kansas City. However, with the growth of the city and an increase in job opportunities in the area, Overland has become an attractive alternative to KC for residents. The history of Overland began with slaves who were brought over from Africa by their owners. The first people to live here were white farmers who purchased land from the Africans. After a while, black men also began to come over and work on these farms. In 1875, two brothers named John and George Wright bought some land north of Overland and started to build a house on it. They called their house "Overland." The town grew quickly because there were many people looking for jobs in different parts of Missouri during the early days of this country. By 1892, Overlanders had a school, post office, store, livery stable and several homes! After World War I came around and generated lots of new businesses within our community (such as fabricating arms), Overlander exploded! In 1925 doors opened up for business again when Mayor Smedley Butler announced that he would lay out streets into grids like those used today; allowing more open space within our small town limits so that businesses could flourish side-by-side without competition from one another or from larger cities nearby which took advantage of this new infrastructure only available to larger townsfolk! Businesses have continued to grow since then as haveOVERLAND'S PEOPLE - we are extremely supportive of local businesses (we know how important they are!), keep prices low enough so everyone can afford groceries AND services WITHOUT breakage; refuse outside pressure not just verbally but through legislation - we've successfully resisted zoning changes by city hall that would have made us less viable as an aftermarket community FOR OUR BUSINESSES!

Overland, Missouri was a town in Clay County, Missouri, United States. The population was 596 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1871 by Colonel George H. Cloyd and his brother-in-law Captain John Treadwell. It was named after Overland County, Kansas. The Cloyd brothers started cattle ranching on the east side of the Arkansas River in what is now Overland. By 1875 they had developed a small town around their ranching operation and called it Overland. In 1878 the Cloyds moved to an area west of Overland where they built a sawmill and store. They also established a school for boys and girls which operated until 1907. In 1886 George Hurd opened a store in Overland that became one of the largest in the county. He also built two churches—oneMethodist and one Baptist—and many homes throughout the community including several for generals George Akeley and William Tecumseh Sherman during World War II as part of Project Signpost (forty-eight buildings). The post office continued operating until it closed on November 30, 1965 due to mail fraud by postal employees who received free advertising from signpost merchants when mailing stamps honoring veterans or military service
The Overland, Missouri Railroad was a railroad that operated in the Ozarks region of Missouri. The railroad was founded in 1868 and its first route ran from Hannibal, Missouri to Springfield, Illinois. The company later extended its operations to Topeka, Kansas and other towns in the region. In 1902, the company merged with the Atlantic and Pacific Railway Company.
