In 1881, Overland became one of twenty towns organized by the Kansas Pacific Railway to provide passenger service between Topeka and Wichita. Overland's growth came from its location within easy walking distance of both Topeka and Wichita; from being an agricultural center; and from its status as a stop on the Kansas City-Wichita Railroad. The town has since been renamed numerous times - most notably Overland Park in 1907 - but it retains its namesake for its location within Easy Walk area between Topeka and Wichita. The first post office in Overland opened on October 20, 1869; however, it was not until November 9th that mail started arriving here regularly. In 1881 Overlanders formed their own school district which would grow into Hardin County High School District #1 today. In 1927 they were again renamed when their new high school building was completed (the old Post Office building still stands). Today’s businesses include: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Barnes & Noble, McDonald’s restaurants (including over 50 units inside TPKM mall), KFC locations (15 units) and Quiznos sandwich chain – all located inside TPKM mall complex with large open spaces adjacent to each restaurant for customer interaction/demonstration purposes only!

Overland is a city in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of St. Francois County. The town was founded in 1839 by Captain James Ketchum and his family as a trading post on the Arkansas River near present-day Poplar Bluff. The first store in Overland was built by A.J. Smith and Wm Fenton in 1840, two years after the original settlement of Overland was founded by Capt JKetchum and his family on the Arkansas River near Poplar Bluff (now Poplar Bluff). In 1841, John Beardsley opened a general store across from today's High School which became one of Overlanders most prominent businesses for many years until it closed in 1957. In 1847, John Davenport established a ferry service between Overland and Bellefontaine Springs which continued until 1954 when Interstate 55 destination switchbacks demolished the bridge over the Arkansas River so that traffic could only travel northbound on I-55 to Bellefontaine Springs while southbound traffic had to use US 60 to get back into Overland proper; this caused great inconvenience for residents of Bellefontaine Springs who were forced to abandon their homes during rush hour! In 1990 an overpass replacing the old bridge was constructed allowing traffic traveling northbound on I-55 to bypass Bellefontaine Springs entirely without going through its congested streets while southbound traffic still had to use US 60 Boulevard which created major problems for drivers trying to navigate around heavy congestion! In 1960s local businessmen Bob Baughman and Don Heineman bought out Davenport’s Ferry Service company making it possible for passengers travelling between Overland and Bellefontaine Springs using their buses or boats to continue doing so uninterrupted until 1972 when they discontinued operations due To budget cuts within St Francois County government! As bus service rapidly lost popularity with new transportation choices available closer to home such as car rental or driving oneself there slowly began an exodus of people from Overlander beginning in 1978 known locally as “The Ghost Towns” phenomenon; this trend continued unabated until current day as more people prefer online services such as Uber or Lyft which offer rides much faster than waiting in line at bus stops! Today's economy relies heavily upon agriculture with cattle ranching being its primary industry; however, retail sales have also become increasingly important since Keith’s Store reopened its doors in 2013 serving local favorites such as cheese testingicles made live right inside your door! Residents also enjoy participating actively in various civic organizations including Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club & American Legion Post #527 etc.; all of which contribute towards keepingOverlander thriving both economically and socially

Overland became a thriving community because of its proximity to the major centers of population in Missouri and Kansas.
