The Neosho Rifle Company was established in 1892 and operated out of a small frame building on the northwest corner of 3rd Avenue South and Market Street. The company manufactured rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers. In 1906 it merged with the Springfield Armory Company to create the Springfield Armory Corporation. The company produced rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers until 1986 when it merged with Colt Firearms Incorporated to form ColtCoil plc.
Neosho, Missouri is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 21,871 at the 2010 census. It is the fourth-largest city in St. Louis County and the fifth largest city in Missouri. The city is home to Neosho University and Neosho Memorial Hospital. The town of Neosho was platted on August 3, 1839 by General Henry Wagoner as part of a land grant to John Sibley from the tribe of Osage for his services during the War of 1812. The town was renamed after David Neosho, who had been killed in that war. David's father had come from what is now Erie County, Pennsylvania and settled in what is now Neosho Township on the east side of River Bluff Creek within present-day Park City Municipal limits on July 25, 1796 according to patent dated September 12th,[1] when he " claimed an extensive tract of country lyingwestward between this creek and the main road leading thence into Dunkirk."[2] On November 1st 1800 James Henniker sold all but one acre[3][4] along River Bluff Creek to David Neosho for $50 per acre (about $1 million today). The remaining acreage was divided among six other heirs including Jno.[5][6] David’s grandson Isaac bought an additional two acres from James Henniker on July 6th 1841 for $60 per acre (about $3 million today).[7][8] At this time it appears that there were few if any Engravings or traces remaining from early settler days! By 1850-1851 only 4 houses still stood standing with 7 barns/outbuildings total; 2 water tanks & 2 cisterns still existed! A post office opened at “Neshoma” on October 11th 1851 serving both towns until January 1st 1865 when it became nevada.[9][10] In 1860 there were only 9 people living in Neshoma; no businesses ever formed so there must have been some farming going on even then! On December 5th 1860 sawing began taking place hereabouts which lasted until 1861 whensmith shop moved out - probably because they could not compete with Potosi [now Kansas City MO]. That same year saw first light around new schoolhouse also – can you imagine having electricity back then? In 1865 most likely due to Union soldiers occupying town during winter months local farmers took advantage of newly dug wells just outside town limits selling well oil etc., raising prices for goods brought into town greatly increasing production costs resulting ultimately in heavy financial burdens for many residents causing them unable to continue operations without subsidies or bankruptcy! A post office reopened at “Neshoma” serving both towns until January 1st 1965 when it became nevada

Neosho, Missouri was a small town in southern Kansas until the early 1800s when it became part of the Illinois Country. The first permanent settler in Neosho was John Sibley who arrived in 1805. At that time, most of what is now Neosho was a hunting and fishing ground used by the Wichita and Osage people. In 1827, James Dixon founded Dixon City on the east bank of the Arkansas River and here he built a log cabin which served as his home for many years. When Kansas became an Oklahoma Territory in 1907, Neosho lost its status as a town but continued to exist as a rural community with a population of around 100 people. In 1915, during World War I, Neosho joined Great Britain in support of her war effort. After the war ended, many American soldiers returned home and began farming the land they had fought for. Businesses were started here to provide goods and services available to those Returning Home from overseas deployments. In 1925, Neosho held its first election under statehood laws passed by Congress following Oklahoma’s admission into the Union as an official state. The town then elected its first mayor and trustees. Many businesses closed after this because there wasn’t enough business traffic to justify keeping them open during regular hours! In 1951-1952,Neosho experienced some serious flooding that caused major damage both inside and outside of its buildings! This event made residents aware of just how important it was for them to have proper water drainage systems so that floods like this couldn’t happen again! Afterward, many improvements were made such as better rainwater harvesting systems and stormwater management plans which have helped protect our community ever since! Today, much like when it originated back more than 200 years ago; Neosho is an historic town full of culture and heritage that you can enjoy while still being able to live your life without worry!
Neosho was founded in 1836 by George and Martha Neosho. It is the seat of Neosho County, Missouri. The town was named after General John S. Neosho, who served as a colonel in the Union army during the American Civil War. The first post office opened in 1839 and continued operation until it closed in 1906.
