In 1889, Hebert moved his business to the now demolished old Depot building on State Street in downtown neosho and continued making barrels until 1912 when he retired from the industry.
Neosho is a small town in the Ozarks of Missouri. The population was 2,243 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Springfield-Highland, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village site was laid out by surveyors in 1836 and named for General James Neosho, who had commanded a brigade under General Andrew Jackson during the Battle of New Orleans. The first settler in Neosho was Isaac Humphrey, who arrived in 1837. By 1840, there were ten families living here. A post office called Neosho was established in 1852, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1854, John Sweeny founded a gristmill on the north side of town and began to grind corn for local consumption; this mill remain active until 1964 when it became a dairymilk plant. In 1862, Samuel Weare donated land to build a school; this school remains in use today as Stonington High School (formerly known as "Neosho Academy"). In 1865, Isaac Hodges started farming on section 3 east of town; he produced hay and wheat which he sold to local farmers for their animals and winter fodder. In 1870, Latham Wagon Works & Emporium opened up shop here; this business continued until 1977 when it closed down due to lack of customers. In 1875-76, Jno Pemberton erected a blacksmith shop near the intersection of Main Street and US Highway 66; this business continued until 1978 when it closed down due to lack of customers also. In 1886–87, Elijah Bogue built three churches – First Baptist Church (now First United Methodist), Second Baptist Church (now Emmanuel Lutheran), and third Presbyterian church – all located northeast corner of Main Street between US Highway 66 and Gentry Avenue NE (later renamed Holy Cross Road). This congregation still meets today at one or more these churches! In 1901–02 saw an influx of Germans into Neosho after President William McKinley made America's entry into World War I optional with his Executive Order 9981/1901 calling for nationality restrictions against nationals from Austria-Hungary because they were implicated in war crimes committed by their own government troops during that conflict! Many German immigrants settled here including Gottlieb Weber Sr., father-in-law of American businessman Adolphus Weber (founder/owner/manager Men’s Wearhouse) which relocated its operations from St Louis to nearby Lee’s Summit before merging with Sears Roebuck & Coorporated there later that year! Nowadays most people who identify as German live elsewhere within Missouri but some continue to reside here full time while others visit annually or less frequently depending on family dynamic etc.). During those early years many young men enlisted or served military service during our wars “off duty” providing goods & services such as carpenters & painters etc.; some even stayed afterwards working various jobs including owning their own businesses over time! As we enter into our third millennium many families have returned back home following many years away only making occasional visits now because so much has changed since then!!

The post office was established in 1881 and continues to serve as the town's principal business center. Neosho was founded by people who came from Illinois during the American Civil War. They named their new settlement after General John A. Neuman, who had fought for the Union against Confederate forces. The first settler arrived in 1871 and built a small cabin on a hill overlooking the community. Abraham Capps started farming in Neosho about 1888 and added another cabin to his property in 1893. A Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1898 and began worshiping there that year. In 1904, American Electric Power Company began operating an electric power plant near Neosho and development of the town beganvmchmore rapidly thereafter due to this source of income for local residents. By 1907, all but one of Neosho's eight homes were single family dwellings and two churches were also built that same year; both were enlarged over time until they became full size buildings withstood several tornado raids during World War II which destroyed most of central Springfield including much of downtown Neosho (although not completely). In 1957, voters passed a local option sales tax referendum that allowed city government to become self-governing through an election process rather than being subject to adherence by county commissioners or state legislators as it had been since 1912 when Johnson County was created out of parts of neighboring Cass County
Neosho was named for Neosho County, Kansas. The town was platted in 1867 and the first school was built in 1868. A post office was established in 1870, and a store and hotel were opened in 1875. The first railroad arrived in 1880 and industry began to grow around the town. In 1915, Neosho became part of Missouri State University.
